You have $25,000.00 to spend on coins. Which best describes your purchasing philosophy and why?

My current coin collecting interests are: (1) British coins 1838-1970 in XF-AU-UNC, (2) silver type coins in XF-AU with that classic medium gray coloration and exceptional eye appeal.

I’ll buy whatever I want when they become available. No way to predict what theyll be or what they’ll cost.
Doggedly collecting coins of the Central American Republic.

since it must be more then one to be "coins" I will pick up 4-5. I think that many of the mid/higher end coins had been sold at lower then expected so for me, this would be a nice pickup.
Best place to buy !

I'd buy anything and everything within the budget that I thought I could flip quickly for a profit and repeat.
It's tough to find an interesting U.S. coin priced under $5,000. I did this experiment 7-8 years ago, and bought 4 coins.

How do polls get written so badly?
What if I want a single coin that costs $17,500 and will spend the rest on silver rounds?
There are many coins over $200 but not into the thousands that I would love to have in my collection!
I thought of some coins and some bullion also

@1630Boston It doesn't qualify me in the ranks of the outstanding noteworthy numismatists, but I would spend about 60% on U.S. Gold coins in PCGS slabs and 40% on new RCM ten ounce silver bars.
Next time I'll make sure to include 400,000 different choices to capture as many possible purchasing combinations as possible.
And that's why the poll specifically says "BEST describes" and not "EXACTLY describes". Sorry the poll didn't include every possible purchasing combination, your royal highness.
Apparently, rudeness is a requirement to post here.
@BarberFanatic Be assured I was not being rude.....if I did not like the poll then I would not have voted.....I was merely saying that after reading the poll question, the first thing that popped into my head was some coins and some bullion. When that was not an option I picked the next BEST choice.
Thank you for taking the time to post the poll, I enjoy seeing the responses.

I cant pick one of your choices there is no cherry pick them one at a time for what ever the price is. I buy coins only when I can pick them that is the best bang for your buck. You can pick a coin for $50 or a $100 any price then have it graded then it's worth 20x that or more do that 10 or 20 times and you can buy some nice coins or stuff at any price or any time you want. So stick your nose in them books to learn and go out and have fun. But that is just me Dumb Type2 thinking.
Do I make sense or am I wasting your guy's time?
When I say picking I'm not just talking about a verity, I'm talking about a big list of things like DDO/R, MPD, Vam's, miss graded, Raw that is priced right, Silver at a good price, Anything you can make $$$ on is a pick.
Hoard the keys.
Depends on what's available but I'm more likely to just buy a few coins. Already have all the lower value stuff I want/need. I voted for buying coins in the 5 to 15k range since that seemed to fit me best.
18 gold coins at $1325 ea. Can you really go that wrong buying gold?
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
Civil War era proof dimes and half dimes. $1000 a pop in decent PF64-65
If I had to spend it on "my collection" I voted number three, several in the $2,000.00 to $5,000.00 range and fill a bunch of Civil War era holes in my half-eagle set.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
I picked one at random, since lately, that is how I buy coins... If actually put to the test, well, I have no idea... depends on what available coins catch my interest....Cheers, RickO
I pretty much agree with MrEureka if you're talking strictly about collectable coins. Mostly, I've decided to keep stacking bullion.
I knew it would happen.
I voted 1 coin because that would buy the 16-D Dime I want for my set.
I'd want just a bit of everything in XF or better. No keys and probably short sets. I'd be patient and buy when the markets for them flood etc. The only gold in my collection would be 1 to 3 fractional gold. Something historical and numismatic with a story behind it. I think it's how I'd play it. I'd have to skip out on a few series I think.
I would buy EVERYTHING I could lay my hands on that says FUTURE QVC HUCKSTER coins (beat up Buffalo's, V's, sad Indians, beat to snot Barbers, Walkers, Morgans, etc.
All dreck, all busted, all junk.
Then melt them, get whatever I could back, lather, rinse, repeat, wiping out hundreds of coins that have done their duty, and need a respectable Viking Funeral, and save countless novices from being fleeced.
i would like a $20 gold double eagle carson city in high grade. i guess it depends on what i find, just saying
I'm filling in a type set in XF/AU... so, I'll be straddling a few of those categories. Many can be had for less than $250, but finding a nice XF Classic Head LC is going to be a bit more!

I would get just a couple.
I think it depends on ones needs wants and or desire.
Also how one collects coins!
I am not normally in possession of 25k to spend on a coin (or coins), so my priority would be to buy that normally unreachable coin that just dazzles me every time I look at it. So it may be just one coin, or possibly two in that 10-12k range, but they would represent "keepers" that I'd cherish until old age makes collecting impractical.
Being a novice, I’d probably start with the $250 and below. I could build a few great sets that are 100x better than what I have now and still have a good amount left over for a few higher end expensive coins.
