Did someone get banned and, if so, who got banned?

pdlp is gone. I think that's a little unfortunate. He was actually trying to get it right, but was just having a hard time.

  • JBKJBK Posts: 16,442 ✭✭✭✭✭

    I miss him already. :'(;)

I assume rhe moderators get pinged or alerted every time there is a flag. They probably got tired of the nonsense.

The poster never did post on anyone else's threads that I am aware of, even when directed to helpful threads or even one where there was free gold.

They also suspiciously never or rarely complained about all the flags and disapproves they were getting. it was almost as if they were going for the record, and they never retaliated to any of it. Very odd.

Well... that was to be expected... though still a bit sad.... He actually seemed to be trying near the end... However, it took inordinately long before effort was noted. Cheers, RickO

After one or two times of pointing them to information to study and they keep coming back with basic questions over and over its obvious they are not here to learn, they are here to troll. If not here to troll, why not take it private to whomever is willing to teach them the basics over the next six months? Something tells me they enjoyed the publics attention.

You're right. It is bizarre that a socially well adjusted, sane person would stay so long. >:):D

Our host was very patient with that individual. I suppose they finally got fed up. Banning here is the equivalent of capital punishment. Unfortunately he may just get a new handle and be back.

It does somewhat remind me of a member a year or two ago, he would use gold eagles in the sprinkler heads, on rear view mirrors etc, wish I could find the thread. He was self admittedly challenged. IIRC his last post was that he was arrested for impersonating policemen.

In nearly everything the human population can be represented by a bell curve of standard deviations. Two or three SDs, even more, are common.

When I've moved into new neighborhoods I spent time studying and learning about the neighbors so I could make the transition a friendly one. Once that was accomplished, I then let them learn about me. It was a slow break-in period.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

They've gone on to other forums and platforms, including the dreaded social media some here seem to despise so much. The hobby seems to be alive and well, it's just shifted.

Anybody can afford to come back under an alt so it doesn’t do much good.

I'm sure if it wasn't a troll they will be back under a different name and more cautious behavior.

But the guy was smart. He did most of his posts as a STARTING post which does not succumb to the ignore. :'(

You guys act like this is a big thing being poofed. Any one w/a brain WILL come back. I've been off 3-4 times. I have alts ready if I decide to really go after someone. I learned long ago its a game here. This guy will be back.

You never know who is behind an alt. that is why this place to me is a joke. You should NEVER trust a person who you do not know in person.

I would guess pdlp was on the autism spectrum. He had many hallmarks: occasional outbursts of anger, obsessiveness, not getting social cues.

I really don't think that one was a troll.

Who should we run out of here next?

He's more likely to return if he was a troll. The whole point of trolling is to annoy people. If he doesn't come back, it's because he wasn't a troll

I see what you did there lol.

If he had a better camera setup, it might have helped his cause, he believed he was seeing things, I just could never confirm any of them with his pictures.

Very possible. and a real shame if that was the case. If he had stuck with one long thread that would have been bearable.

If he ever learns what a DD is he'll be a fantastic roll searcher due to his attention to detail.

I was banned from a forum for pinning back the ears of a long time member who was posting BS. I tried to come back on but with a different name but each time they recognized the server for each of my computers as two different locations. I don't see why CU cannot do the same thing.

Why shocked? As a new member, I didn't know to treat others with kid gloves. The fool had no clue, posted a lot of BS, added comments that added nothing to treads, and had many members completely snowed - folks like that are the "weeds" on the forums.

The member who was booted is almost spot on with a large majority of members of other coin forums on FB. They all have post's alike. Very few of Wich have been "Trolls" Seemed to me a typical youtube collector. Who may or may not have been trying towards the end. I do not think he was a troll. He did not put much effort ther fore making him clueless and rather rude when he was gave advice or input.

The poster was, admittedly, a little odd - but, there was also some progress when members were patient with him. It would likely have been a very slow acclimation process.
