I had a lease like that way back in college. It was a breach of lease to die and my then non-existent estate would have been liable.
Sometimes large corporations take things a bit too far.
Nothing surprises me anymore.

you are born, pay taxes and die. they are happy to take your tax money though
Guess that would explain the late shipping.
Its par for the course now.
I had a cc issue (not PayPal) on my deceased father. It was beyond the sol 4 yr deadline for Texas. Had my attorney write letter as such, beat them out of it.
Paypal's fault for letting the account get $4200 in the hole.

"Well, I was GOING to die....but my credit rating is important to me, so I guess I'll stick around."
Until now I thought the secret to eternal life was to leave me some money in your will, now you can use PayPal as well.
what a bummer. (scratching paypal from getting a christmas card)
Does PayPal have a collections office in the afterlife?
Judging from that letter...........probably.
Pete
Is there going to be a fee for that transfer from will to PayPal? I guess that's next.
Hoard the keys.
The one ultimate legal loophole, one reason IRS reforms were overdue, too much despair by taxpayers; but sometimes after someone with a$$ets dies the real vultures take over.
They are unrelenting I’ll give em that
Up to now I thought I heard it all. I guess not!!!
Certainly no “pal” in that decision
It's unfortunate but many times the way the laws are written, force attorneys to write language in harsh and insensitive ways in order to protect the lender/landlord from fraudulent use of accounts after a person dies, or to protect their interest in filing a claim in the estate. What if the balance was $250,000?
Very, very unfortunate. I think they could leave the "insensitive" language in there, but dress up the "deceased default letter" with some serious words of sympathy - therefore accomplishing both goals.
But hey, I probably only thought this up because I am in a 12 step lawyer recovery program and no longer actively practicing, therefore making me more human, lol.
It would seem the legalese overpowered the sensitive side of the business...not good in these times of 'feelings'....
