1943-S spiked neck Washington quarter

Photo of 1943-S Washington quarter with spiked neck. I have found three of these coins. Also, a 1936 with similar spike. Any suggestion of how to submit to PCGS for grading. I have considered submitting as error coin. Appreciate any advice provided. Pretty new to this board.

Welcome
Not sure if PCGS would label this as a die gouge or not, considering that it is rather small. Good luck with PCGS CS, they might not give you a straightforward answer either. You might just have to submit and see.
BTW, this would go well with the 43-S goiter!

Thanks for your advice. I guess I'll just submit it and see what happens.
The photograph was taken for me by Mr. J. T. Stanton. Almost had to pay a ransom to get the coin back! LOL
I share your thoughts about the 43-S goiter and thought it would be nice addition to variety quarter sets.

@Johnphillips... Welcome aboard..... Nice find, and good luck with the submission... Let us know what transpires. Cheers, RickO
Nice find... thanks for sharing the photo.
Interesting.
Really cool find, thanks for sharing.
It's a die variety not a mint error.
Pencil Neck sounds better
You wouldn't happen to be the John Phillips with the # 1 Washington Variety set would you?
Dimeman.:
Sorry for belated reply, but yes I am John Phillips with the Phillips Collection. Obviously I do not go to this board often. Tom Sedivy aka Tommy1 and I collaborate a great deal through e mails. Also, John Borst aka jwb1040 who had some of the top Quarter variety sets became good friends through our mutual hobby. Foolishly, I tried to convince to keep collecting, but he found other interests.
I do not go to this forum often and really should. The quality photos of my favorite coin are just phenomenal.
Funny that I bought a quarter a year ago on e bay. When he asked for my address, he also lives in Tupelo, MS and just dropped the coin off. I later met with him and he showed me some of the finest top rated Flying Eagle cents. It was a treat to view the coins.
Best regards,
John
