Numistrust Corporation. I just purchased an 1897s Morgan in 65 for $250. Coin looks properly graded. I just wanted opinions from fellow forum members regarding the accuracy and reputation of the above company.

Every once in a while you find a gem in the rough, but many coins are over graded or have issues. You should really be sure that you know what you are looking at when you buy coins in those holders.

This is my personal experience based on a dealer that said he used to grade for PCGS many years back. He showed me and my brother in law 3 coins that my brother in law was interested in and he said what he was showing us was at least 1 full grade higher than he would grade those coins at. That could mean that they were likely graded off by more than 1 grade.
Hopefully that is not the case with the coin you just purchased.

Well, worthless isn't correct. But it would sure help to see this beauty in all it's glory.
There are great coins hiding in third tier holders.
There are also many many dogs.
The dogs far outnumber the great coins, but it is possible to find a bargain.
It's not common but possible.
That is my experience.
Who says it is 65? A real tpgs or Numitrust? Photos would help. Probably a PCGS 63.
Can you:
a) post a photo?
b) grade a Morgan yourself?
If you can't consistently tell an uncirculated Morgan from a slider, you may want to avoid - in general - 2nd and 3rd tier "grading" companies. Ignore their label grades and learn to judge the coin yourself. At $250, you could find a decent MS64 PCGS example and save a couple bucks. If you cracked your NTC and it came back AU58, you took a $200 bath.
Edited to add that a certain young lady thinks I'm being hard on you. When it comes to your wallet, I'm trying to keep you from being too hard on it. No offence intended.

The name alone bothers me with this slabbing company. My subconscious always drops the Nu and hears only Mistrust. Read into that what you will, but I follow my gut and what my subconscious tell me. I know that I would never pay the value of the grade listed on the label and I would crack it out the second I bought it. I really hope you got a great deal on it.

Yes ... a photo of the obverse and reverse would help.

Does a properly graded coin exist in an NTC slab? Sure - even a blind squirrel occasionally finds a nut.
Would I bet on any given coin being THAT coin? No.

Take the 'Nu' out of the grading service's name and I think you have your answer.
I will withhold any judgement until we see the coin. I know from experience that good coins can be found in unexpected places. I even had a couple of really great blind dates in my younger years

I would get it crossed over to pcgs asap, the resale value would be quite low in the current slab

Assuming you are experienced at grading these, even if it appears to be properly graded, it is not "worth" the $ for the grade to most people unless in a top tier slab.
I for one cannot grade these, so I personally would never pay 65 $ unless it was in PCGS or maybe NGC.
Just treat this coin and all other coins in third world slabs as if they are raw coins and you'll be okay.

A picture is mandatory in this instance for assigning a grade.
