Beautiful Toners -- But headed for the melting pot

DaveWcoinsDaveWcoins Posts: 1,185 ✭✭✭

I just bought a collection locally. Nothing really - but the silver coins stored in albums had some beautiful toners in them (see my crummy photos).

That's the good news.

The bad news is - they were all circulated, common date Mercury 10c, Roos. 10c and Washington 25c. Oh, how I wish he collected unc coins decades ago.

I pulled out the best of them -- lots of greens and reds (only on the obverses; the reveres were very ordinary). But even at two or three times melt, it isn't really worth putting them on eBay or anything. So - into the junk silver bags they will go. Too bad, but that's the way it is.

At least keep them separate from your regular junk silver. They are pretty.

At least pick out the best ones to keep and sell the rest a "junk" silver. Everybody wins.

The way I see it is they're your coins and you can do whatever you like with them. Neat photos.

I would throw them on ebay. I had a nice group of Canadian Fishscales that came out of an old album that toned wild! Some of them had obviously been cleaned at some time...but they sold well!

Lovely coins. All the circulated toners out there mostly appear AT or trash. These are pretty neat.

I’d keep a few of those toners or throw them on eBay if I were you. I would be a person who buys those.

Always buying nice toned coins! Searching for a low grade 1873 Arrows DDO Dime and 1842-O Small Date Quarter.

Some neat circulated toners there. If you put them on BST, I'd think someone would offer to save them from the melting pot. Thanks for sharing & hope you are well, Dave....Mike
