Is this an error? Pocket change quarter

Pls ignore my post count and pretend I am an innocent newbie. This is probably a stupid question but I am having doubts about my initial diagnosis of post mint damage.

The area in questions seems broadstruck but the impacted area is limited to the top and top-left areas. The coin seems slightly out of round in that area and the rim has the appearance of an unstruck planchet. There are also lines at the 1:00 and 8:00 areas that seem to track where the coin should have been if not for the broadstruck area.

The edge is mostly smooth with a few scattered hints of weak reeding.

Sorry for the bad pictures. Any ideas what might be going on with this quarter? Thx for any feedback.

Can't tell for sure on my cell phone, but looks like a "Tilted Partial Collar Strike."

Planchet not seated properly in collar, so one area extruded out over the top of the collar and did not receive reeding.

Additional possibility is struck on a type one blank rather than a type two planchet with upset rims, but can't see well enough to tell.

These are fun coins. I always put them aside when I find one. It's a minor no-big-deal, but I still find them neat.

    Thanks for sharing, OP.

Huh. We've had a number of recent "found in change" posts where the poster was pretty clueless. This isn't one of them!

The edge picture makes it clear that this is a tilted partial collar strike. That means that it's technically not a broad strike, which can't have any reeding. In this case, though, there's so little reeding that I wouldn't argue semantics. I'd probably call it a broadstrike if I had it myself.

    Nice find!

I think you would not find many responses worthy of your analysis. I SEE all the answer by reading your opening post.
    Bravo :)

It's always cool to fine a reject that makes it out into the wild - I thought partial collar strike, too, and glad I wasn't alone.
