Did USPS increase their rates AGAIN???

I just printed a label for a coin I sold on eBay. It cost me $3.50 where as it was only $2.66 for the last label I printed a few days ago.

Not me and I printed one this moning to. Did you put in a larger weight by chance. Mine was 3 oz's.
I don't think so. I printed half a dozen labels for ebay coins and each was $2.66.

OK, false alarm,,,,, I was gonig to take a photo to show it but when I did it was the normal $2.66.
I know it said $3.50 because I checked my weight when I saw that. I added insurance and it was that ship cover and I changed to USPS,,,,,, does the USPS rate change with Shipcover?
Like wise $2.66. Is it possible that you are no longer a "Top Rated Seller?' I believe, but I'm not sure, that is one of the requirement for the shipping discount. Check your Seller dashboard for your status. $3.50 is the postage rate for a 10 oz item according to my chart.
$3.50 is the normal price for a package of a couple ounces. $2.66 is the price with eBay discount. Are you not getting the discounted price for some reason?

You do not have to be a top rated seller to get the ebay shipping discount! I was about to ask if you paid on the USPS site...as it is $3.50 if you go through the USPS. Ship Cover insurance is higher than the USPS in many situations...and It does not cover coins!
That must be it, I see a lot of times if not always when I buy insurance it goes to ship cover and I always change it to USPS insurance because I know ship cover doesn’t cover coins.
Well Ship Cover is the answer to the higher postage.
I sold another coin and when I brought up a label with USPS it was $2.66 so then I added ins thru Ship Cover just to see what happened and the cost went to $3.50 plus the insurance. You don't get the discount if you use ship cover insurance,

This depends of the type of ship you are covering. A kayak cover had not changed (well, it's not a ship), but Shipcovers for littoral combat ships have increased considerably.

I dont know about ebay postage but I shipped one of the small priority boxes you assemble at the PO for the first time in a few years and it was $7.something. I asked her when prices went up she said not in at least 5 years. I swear those used to cost $5.25? I shipped at least a couple hundred of those.
Those have gone up twice since the $5.25 days. It's been a while since the last increase, but I don't think it's been 5 year - although time flies when you're old. The last change didn't involve those, as I recall, but the one before it did which would have been maybe 2 years ago...???

Not relevant here - but Priority discounts are different if you are top rated vs. not. 1st class package rates are the same.

That time line would fit with my experiences.
I have to disagree here. I just shipped an 8x8x8 17 ounce package with my unrated non-store account priority mail. The cost was $7.03....check that against the rate you would receive. If I am wrong you can always use paypal to ship and get the discounted rate!

Respectfully, you are incorrect. I have a top-rated account and a regular account. Hard to tell from a random priority mail package, as they depend on destination, BUT...
Flat rate envelope $6.35 top-rated vs. $6.55 regular
Small flat rate box $6.85 vs. $7.05
Medium flat rate box $12.45 vs. $12.85
Large flat rate box $17.10 vs. $17.65
And, of course, you get $100 in free Priority insurance if top-rated and only $50 in insurance if not top-rated.
The PayPal rate is the same as the non-top-rated eBay rate. It's not a huge difference, but there is a difference.

This was not a flat rate shipment! Perhaps you should check? Got the free insurance($50) because it was only worth $50 also! That is 18 cents more than a flat rate small box! And the item would not fit in a medium box!
I think so. I checked my record last year priority small box flat rate is about $6.10 from ebay now is $7.10 or $7.05. I don't ship first class so I don't know the price for first class. International express was $61.50 last year now is about $67.20.
I could care less about your specific shipment. The rates I quoted are correct for top-rated and not top-rated. There IS a difference in rates for Priority. The biggest difference is the insurance. You can NOT get $100 free insurance unless you are top-rated. This is true in both PayPal and eBay. You only get the standard $50 insurance on the Priority whereas you get up to $100 in top-rated. The rates are slightly different - as indicated - for the flat rate packages. It is harder to assess for Priority packages that aren't flat rate because the shipping cost varies depending on the distance from the shipper and I see little point in sitting here all note typing in different zip codes to see what the relative rates are.
Accept it, or not. The priority rates above were pulled directly from my two eBay accounts and represent the actual cost difference in the two types of account (top-rated and not top-rated).

Your eBay link is for last years rates....Do you have the latest 2018 rate link? I can't seem to find it.

It's easy to do for flat rate envelopes, it's a little harder to do for other Priority boxes because it varies by zone.
Personally, if you don't want to go through the top-rated hurdles, the postage alone is not terribly enticing. The only nice feature that has real value is the extra free insurance. The 15 or 20 cent discount on a priority package is minimal. The only reason I keep jumping over the TRS hurdles is the 10% discount on final value fees. That does add up and saves me about $80 per month. Since most of my packages go 1st class package not priority, the postal savings are minimal.
