Interesting auction

I think people think this is a 24-S ?? I dont see that the seller says it is anywhere but it is in the San Francisco mint category.

That is one thing I do not like about NGC's labels on dollars. I have caught my self several times mistaking the "S" for silver dollar as an S MM!
The title ‘1924-S $1 Peace Dollar’ could easily mislead people
The seller is quoting the NGC slab with the title "1924 S$1" and this could easily fool someone into at least opening the lot.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
That's not what the title says.
Never buy coins from a seller who only shows one side of the coin.
No it does not. There is no dash between the date and the S. S$1 = Silver Dollar
The coin is not an S coin.

He shows both sides but you need to click on "see full item description" to see that.

I agree, but there are more pics linked weirdly in the description of the coin. Has reverse pics, definitely not an S
Oddly he links to heritage pics https://dyn1.heritagestatic.com/lf?set=path[1/8/5/4/8/18548644]&call=url[file:product.chain]
Appears intentionally deceptive.
OK, I see that you are right but I have never seen an auction set-up that way.
I would have skipped over his items by not seeing the reverse side of the coin.
That said look at the category options at the top, it is listed under San Fran
Coins & Paper Money>Coins: US>Dollars>Peace (1921-35)>See more 1924-S $1 Peace Dollar
My local dealer "saharacoins" does it that way and I hate it too.

Considering the seller is Heritage Auctions, I figure this is an oversight by one of their employees in listing it under the category of 1924-S Peace Dollars. I don't see any way that Heritage would intentionally misrepresent coins they are selling!
Hopefully it gets fixed or returned. No reason to put the "S".
Dollar coins dated after 1889 don't need the "S$1" abbreviation - only silver dollars exist (except for a couple of commemoratives).
I once gloated about the great rip I made on a Franklin in 67........ thinking I had won a 67FB.
You learn a little more every day. People bidding on this one will learn a little too...... and ultimately it will be a SNAD.
Wanna buy some ikes at spot?
Copper spot or mustard spot?
When I look at it on my phone, that's how it appears (though on my PC it does not have the dash)

Dont worry the seller is P.N.G. there one of the big coin dealers you can trust them! Cough Cough
Heck I doubt it will even be the coin pictured.
Of course in all fairness I think I bought from him before.

I think on mobile the top part is the category and the line below the pic is the sellers title.
Ended due to error in the listing!
Auction gone now.... Must have been several questions or complaints... Cheers, RickO
I sent them a pm before posting here. Others probably also.

A simple eBay message got a thank you and the listing pulled to be corrected.

I don't like how NGC does that on the silver dollar slabs. Indeed it looks like an S mintmark at first glance.
