I have a feeling some people are tired of waiting for the medals. They might think they will pick one up aftermarket. Or buyer regret.
I did not and do not agree with the mint's marketing of these.
It's wrong to make you purchase a Proof Dollar to get the medal. 5 Proofs to get all the medals. But this has been stated almost universally on this forum.
The Mint strategy of waiting to mint to order is resulting in loss of sales... getting lower and lower. These are actually going to be some pretty low mintage medals, for each issue.
As of Tuesday April 24th Stats:
Army 15082
Air Service 12052
Navy 11927
Marines 12180
Coast Guard 9391
But then again... maybe one one cares.... (I'm kind of so-so myself)

So your basically saying with ALL the CANCELLATIONS cause we have to wait for these medals as they stopped selling them 6 weeks ago. But wont ship out any for another 4 weeks. We could have hundred's more of CANCELLATIONS as the public is tired of waiting for these medals. Is that what your referring too?

Thank you Tincup I am waiting for a few of the Coast Guard Medals. I have basically forgotten all about those medals for now. A very strange way to sell a coin. There must be a reason some type of production schedule I guess.
My guess is these medals will be available in MS69 for a reasonable price in a few months. The first few 70's will go for a whole lot more to a few who can't wait, and then fizzle out as the flippers try to get their money back.
I am not too thrilled with the marketing fiasco the Mint caused with these.
it's the middle of May. Maybe the mint forgot about these. The production report tomorrow will show fewer across the board. Again. Bets on the day these ship?

Got an email from the Mint this morning. It said: Thank you for your recent order. Unfortunately, we are not able to fulfill it at this time. Please call our Customer Service Center at your earliest convenience at 1-800-872-6468.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If we do not hear from you within 48 hours, we will automatically cancel your order. This is to protect you against any fraudulent activity on your account.
Never got an email like this from the Mint before so I called. The CS rep said "ignore that email. The WW1 back ordered items shipped today and you were billed."
Dear Valued Customer,
You may have received a message this morning alerting you that an order you placed for World War I Silver Dollar and Medal Set(s) will be canceled. This message was sent in error, and your order is being processed without issue. A shipment confirmation will be sent to you once this is complete.
Please accept our apologies for this erroneous communication and any inconvenience or concern it may have caused.
OMG. Like a complete idiot I missed an open window to get in on these highly desirable and highly colectible bloody celebration Medals. What a fool I was.
But I'll make up for this lost Silver Opportunity by purchasing graded 70's at 10X issue price.

Yep, not too many "instant collectors" for this type of thing.
It might take awhile for a collector base to develop, but the Mint will have to do a much better job of cultivating potential customers than they have been doing and their handling of this offering is an especially good example of the problem.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally
Mine still have not shipped ohhh well there goes my First Strike lost a few days or does time start when they ship mine? I have a feeling once they start shipping the clock starts. I can go and get the paperwork ready while I wait for PCGS.
It starts when they first ship. You can check the First Strike page for dates. https://pcgs.com/firststrike/
You have to scroll down a ways to see the entry for these. It is not updated yet. Thy can be lax in timely updates.

I bought all five silver medals (and the accompanying dollars), in two different orders about three days apart. Got the first three on Tuesday morning, delivered by Brown. Second two are supposed to be here via Fed Ex on Friday. These will all probably be in my estate someday, but that's okay. In the little town where I grew up (1960s), there were all kinds of men who had served in the Armed Forces during World War I. The local American Legion was still a very big deal into the 1980s. I will think of those gentlemen when I look at these pieces.

You are correct!
Don't quote me on that.
Really? Can you beat a order date of Jan 21, 2018? That was my last set purchase from the Mint...
Oh, gawd...don't get that started again. LOL.
Yes I can. Jan 31,2018 is a date that beats yours.
Don't quote me on that.
April Fools Day! (No, not really...)
Medals should be shipping soon...
You should have posted that to the EU thread. We probably would have heard about a half-dozen heads hitting a wall...
I'm still waiting for the remaining 10,000 to hit the market in May. LOL.
Can we buy them on EBay yet I want 20 Coast Guard Medals First Strike ONLY.
Oops
Really slowing down. Reverse even. Could be because of the delay in shipping. Still a month away.
I'll be a buyer at 80% of spot. But I only want 500 pieces. Gotta be slabbed, I dont need counterfeits.
66 or lower will be ok.
The Mint better ship those medals soon...

Doesnt matter if production would drop to 5,000 each. No one wants these War Doggs. Now or ever.
Floppers got em all. Flop em for a loss.

I bet the mint can't find the medals because they misplaced them behind the 10,000 boxes of EU sets.
By the end of May 2018.
I'm thinking the 24th for some reason.

After being removed, the medal/commem sets are back on the product schedule.
They are "currently unavailable".
I wonder if they're planning on trying to sell the medals that were cancelled. They're not supposed to, but what else to do with the extra production?
BTW, the page says fulfillment will begin in late May, so that could be two weeks from now...
Of course for Christmas you should expect "LIMITED" offerings in Gold and possibly Palladium as well.
Lucky you.
I'll take May 22nd
