That's a tough one to call. Given that it's a key date, they may bless it with a straight grade, but the grade will certainly reflect the scratch. At least it's not terribly deep or wide and it blends a bit with the rest of the chatter. Had it had the surfaces of a GEM, it might have been a killer. I'd certainly send it in if not just to get the genuine label.
I really enjoy posts as this. It get's folks to look at coins closely. Two things to consider for the future. If you post a counterfeit coin in a GTG you need to have sharp images. Additionally, most folks do not like it when they grade the coin and don't "catch" the trick. I did that on another forum twice after I joined as a way to educate folks with no intention of embarrassing anyone yet I got "blasted." I guess I see their point; yet IMO it is better to do as you have done (WITH SHARP IMAGES). Great fun and educational for all.

Here's a pic that will make you scratch your head. Same coin. You might be fooled by this if you didn't take a loupe to it.

I agree- the close-up photo is the only one that really makes it look questionable. On the other 2 photos it is not obvious at all. thanks for sharing!

I think it should not straight grade....

I think you have a good chance, that scratch does not look to deep.
I bet it goes cleaned....i don't like the rest of the hairline in the same direction....
I think it has better than 50% chance of grading 50-53 from your pictures.
I believe that it will grade... low AU.... but at least it will be authenticated... Cheers, RickO

That said, I'm too chicken to do it anymore.
