Go to YouTube & listen to the song or google the lyrics to the song , see below:
Blue Bayou
Linda Ronstadt
I feel so bad I got a worried mind
I'm so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind
On Blue Bayou
Saving nickles, saving dimes
Working til the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou
I'm going back someday
Come what may
To Blue Bayou
Where the folks are fun
And the world is mine
On Blue Bayou
Where those fishing boats
With their sails afloat
If I could only see
That familiar sunrise
Through sleepy eyes
How happy I'd be
Gonna see my baby again
Gonna be with some of my friends
Maybe I'll feel better again
On Blue Bayou
Saving nickles saving dimes
Working til the sun don't shine
Looking forward to happier times
On Blue Bayou
I'm going back someday

'Silver Threads Among the Gold' reminds me of my collection... ...Three Coins in a Fountain is one I hum when I go to the park up the street...usually a lot more than three coins in there though...and 'Brother Can You Spare a Dime' ..... Cheers, RickO

I love Creeque Alley by the Mommas & the Poppas , and remember "greasin' on American Express cards" but I have no idea what the coins represent.
This thread is good in theory but is way too much work if I have to look up lyrics.

No Beatles fans here

There is that song that includes "one more silver dollar". Midnight rider? Maybe L. Skynard?
I think that is Greg Almond. I have Steve Miller's Your Cash ain't nothin but trash. All I had was a Buffalo.
Allman is the spelling but yes it was the Allman Brothers that did Midnight Rider.
Jim Croce: "You can keep the Dime"
