Just to be fair...... USPS

ms70ms70 Posts: 13,958 ✭✭✭✭✭

It's no secret that I'm critical of the USPS based on my own experiences, but it wouldn't be fair to put it all out here without commenting on good work.

PCGS shipped my submission back on Friday.... It came TODAY. Yes, on Sunday. The carrier was cheerful and told me they're trying to catch up on parcel deliveries.

Thank you USPS. You saved me from what I thought would be 5 or 6 business days of tracking.

USPS is surprisingly efficient. The slip ups though get most of the attention.

Glad that Amazon has them working on Sundays!

I recently got a registered in 6 days . Others from the same location have taken 11 days. It must have had a good tail wind.

Yeah...but for how long? Their rates keep going up and up.

I ship first class usps most of the time, unless it is a heavier package. if I ship on Monday morning, it gets there by Wednesday morning over 90 percent of the time, even cross country. why use priority when first class is just as fast?

Nice of you to compliment them ms70, as they do get it done right more than not.

Last week I won a coin on Saturday. Shipped from CA via priority mail on Saturday. I picked it up in NC on Monday morning.
    Nice work by the USPS.

I do a lot of expresses with them; they have a new system that if it is guaranteed and fails to arrive on time, you just go online on your account and they automatically approve the refund. No fighting the counter clerks to get them to honor their guarantee. And 20% of the time plus they fail to deliver on time.

The particular route can also be key. I can ship a priority package across the country to a particular destination in 2 days every time, three days for a letter.

And FedEx and UPS rates have been going down?

USPS is actually quite good.... glad to see some complimentary posts. Yes, I have had one or two problems with their service... but that is very rare. I ship items - both coins and other material - and service is usually prompt and without issues. There was some 'delayed delivery' during int holiday rush, but nothing of major concern. Cheers, RickO

Some say they are the preferred way to ship firearms, but not sure I'd go along with that.

And FedEx and UPS rates have been going down?

If UPS part timers and shifters get better contract language for pay and benefits, expect higher shipping costs.

FedEx and international competitors will raise rates and follow suit.. because they can, and historically have.

I've never really had an issue with USPS and I actually think the service they provide is a bargain.
