Morgan money clip mystery

Many years ago a person gifted me this money clip, new in packaging. I never carried it and it hid in my coin collection among odds and ends. The 1879 Morgan dollar was secured in a clever screwed band attached to the clip mechanism. I freed the coin to find l can see the silver rim. Obv. and rev. we're protected with a thick domed acrylic coating. I soaked the coin in acetone and the coating fell away nicely. Weight and size are correct. Are the silver and gold coatings removable?, without destroying the Morgan underneath. Peace Roy

The coin is JEWELRY and cannot be restored. Best to put the money clip back together an enjoy it.
Thanks, I shall give it to my granddaughter. Peace Roy

Unfortunately, those plated Morgans are just jewelry.... While it could be 'de-plated', the resulting surface would not be attractive... Cheers, RickO
Use it as intended, sell it as scrap or add it to your junk silver stash. Better than nothing.
