Request Help with an 1877-s Half Dollar

This piece was held in a Dealer’s inventory as a possible fake; seems he sold it to a good customer who returned it after being told by an expert it is counterfeit. Checks 90% silver, 12.5 grams in weight.
I appreciate any thoughts on this one!

It certainly looks cleaned and re-toned. Not much upside to the coin being a fake. It's worth a couple hundred bucks in AU, problem free.
When in doubt...don't.

Offer melt value. $6. Or pass.
I do not see it as an obvious fake... except for the tarnish... and maybe her head...not sure. Cheers, RickO
Looks Ok to me, but I'm no expert.
Wait and see if some LS club expert comes along and determines the mm placement is wrong, etc.
I talked with a few from the LSCC and got a cautious split decision; deciding just from images with no obvious feature that is wrong is difficult! There are many of the documented varities for this date that are dependant on seeing very fine details that one can't see from these images...

Well, you probably can't get better opinions than those, at least from images.
There are some sharp cookies in that org.
Best of luck to you!
PCGS is going to take a look at it.
