Happy Cinco de Mayo!

A rather contrived US holiday little observed in Mexico, I found out from working down there and with many fine people from there....nevertheless- let’s see some light side from south of the border!

Commonly referred to as Drinko De Mayo, this is the anniversary of the Mexicans defeating the French occupiers which I don't think is exactly a major accomplishment.

It's more of an excuse for people to get drunk than anything else lol. I don't have any Mexican coins but have some tequila for me!

Other things learned - none of the folks I spent time with drink margaritas or Corona....both considered gringo-tourist beverages....Give me a Modelo Negra instead!
Did find this......worn out Peso from my uncle.....not worth much.

Si - I have the Herradura Reposado packed up for the party we're heading to!
Very contrived.
El Día de la Batalla de Puebla is remembered mostly in Puebla state and has no importance in the rest of Mexico and certainly not in the United States.
As Stephen Colbert remarked Friday night, "it's another adopted date to get drunk" -- like St. Patrick's Day
I always thought it was sponsored by Budweiser.
I knew it would happen.
I just like the food but a good Margarita sounds good as well.
Here is my Mexico Cigar box.
Hoard the keys.
@Type2 ... Holey moley... if that is your Mexican 'cigar box', what does your top shelf selection look like?? Very nice indeed. Cheers, RickO

I am trying to have Mexican limes re-classified as medicine so I can make a few more bucks skirting tariff issues.

To people with beer this means something.
To people with scurvy - this is how the free market addresses public health issues.
By coincidence, this little item arrived on May 3, 2015 just before the Mexican holiday "Cinco de Mayo", which celebrates the Mexican Army victory over the invading French Army at Puebla on May 5, 1862.
Mexico, Eight Escudos 1862, Durango Mint, Hand on Book style
Gold, 37mm, 26.95gm
Spanish Eight Escudo coins were called "Doubloons" and this would be a "Mexican Doubloon".
The coin has circulated quite a bit from it's wear and scratches.
It is interesting to speculate where it has been since 1862.
