Surprise NewP – 1877CC Seated Quarter

I dropped a couple of late bids in the weekly Heritage auction yesterday afternoon. I thought I’d have a chance to win an XF 1831 Bust Half, (fairly cheap and abundant), and figured I’d get beat on an AU55 1877CC Quarter that I thought had a lot of character, (most seem to be washed out and blah).
Then, I forgot that I bid. Too busy watching the NHL playoffs.
I got a win notification this morning, and assumed I got the Bustie. Nope....beat by a cut bid. It was the Quarter that I won!
What do you think? It certainly seems to me to have potential. Maybe some surface staining, but more interesting look than a drab gray example, to my eye!
(Then again, I always have this same uneasy feeling when I win an auction lot: “If I won, I must have over bid.”)
Ah...It's all part of the fun....

You may be surprised with it in hand. Heritage images are not the best around, decent but I have been pleasantly surprised with purchases with HA.
Nice bid and forget win!

Just ran the cert. It sold for about $40 more in 2010....which says more about the coin market than my actual winning bid, however.
Looks OK in those less than OK pictures.... Let us know when you get the coin.. could be a really nice catch. Cheers, RickO
I think it looks nice.
