Couple wheat cent questions.

Would value your opinions. What is up with the wheat ear on the 1953, is it a cracked die or struck through grease? Then is this a lamination on the 1949 s or post mint damage? Thanks.

    Die crack on 1953.
Looks like a lam on the 49-S.
Tough for me to interpret the image, but I am fairly sure that is what it is.

I agree with the die crack and lamination evaluation above.... the Wheat Ear may also have some grease filling the lower portion.... Cheers, RickO
