1909 S VDB authentication and grade help - NEW PICTURES Further down

Was bought in the 70's and put in a Whitman folder. I have been asked to potentially sell it. Sorry about the Iphone pictures.
I am having a heck of a time finding all the diagnostics with a 10X loupe. I guess my eyes aren't meant for copper. I believe it is Obverse #3. The cross bar in the B is slanted. I can't see close enough to see if the die chip is in the S.
So what does everyone think? Genuine or not?
How about the grade?
Thanks for your help. I am not a lincoln cent guy and it is not my coin so please be honest and give your real opinions.
One more question, Acetone bath or not?

Light the coin, step back and zoom in on the illuminated coin, as to where the shadow of your phone or hands don't obscure the light or shot.
I would not dip it. Not a Lincoln expert so I will leave grading to the experts. Rough guess 8-12.
I can't guess at a grade with those pictures, I would say it looks real, but very hard to tell from the images.
After a quick look at photo grade I may have been a little conservative. The photos make it hard to judge, but if the experts here think it is genuine and it were mine it would visit our host for certification. 09s vdb is valuable in about any grade.

I would guess a VF-30, there are some little dings on the rim on the obverse at 3 O'Clock. Good luck with it.

This coin was highly doctored even in the 1970's.
I was in a coin shop one year around that time, the dealer and I were chatting, and he told me that recently he had bought a doctored 1909S-VDB from someone who came into his shop. Usually the scamming "method" was adding an S to a 1909-VDB coin which is an inexpensive coin. So if it gets messed up, the scammer isn't out too much money,
However in this case the scammer was so skilled, he added the VDB to the back of a 1909-S coin, which is a semi-key coin. He risked ruining a semi-key coin to possibly upgrade to a key coin - that's scamming confidence. So the dealer focused in on the S with his loupe and determined it was genuine, not bothering to focus much on the VDB on the reverse. And so the dealer paid the guy a wholesale price for a 1909S-VDB. Somehow later on he found out it was a doctored coin, and he was basically flabbergasted at what the scammer did.
We both agreed that the marketplace was sorely in need of an authentication/grading service. Wonder if that ever happened?
So send it in to PCGS and see if it is authentic and what it grades. In my opinion, it does have an authentic look to it, but I would never buy that coin raw, and I do mean never, I don't care how good it looked. Also in my opinion, I would not give that coin an acetone bath.

A hot water bath and a fine cloth could help. Vf25-30, no acetone, get it authenticated yes.
Great Collections may be a good option for this one since they will send it to get graded. I told him most eBay sold raw coins are going for $450 to $650 and that if he sold it for $650 he would net around $565. I also told him a dealer would probably offer him around $400 raw if they were confident that it was real. Am I in the ball park or am I being too conservative? I am seeing graded VF30 coins sold for $625 to $800 on eBay.
It looks authentic to me. For a grade I would say between 25 & 30. Don't clean it unless you are confident you know what you're doing and willing to take a risk of rejection for cleaning it. As said above its worth sending to PCGS for authentication. Then you'll know exactly where you stand.

Coin is genuine, and vf-25 to 30 range
I am still amazed he just put it in the hole in the blue whitman folder. He also told me his parents thought he was nuts when he bought it back in the 70's. The funny thing is that the folder is only about half full but he had the key date in there.
How is his 14D and 22 no MM?

His folder doesn't have the space for the 22 and the 14D is blank
Looks genuine to me (second set of pictures)... I agree with the recommendation to slab it...Cheers, RickO

Well, I sent him to Great Collections. I think that will be the best bet for him. I was actually surprised at the prices for this coin when I was looking it up for him. I thought they would have been a little higher. I traded a 22 a few years ago for much more money and it was a VF20. Has the market softened or has the 22 always been higher priced?
