If I needed a job to get rich

topstuftopstuf Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'd get on at the post office.
I just sent a coin to a guy.
I gave them my insurance form.
OH....we don't use those anymore. NOW we just enter it while you stand here and then give you a receipt that has

NO NAME OR ADDRESS ON IT !!

Then....when it does NOT arrive and the buyer asks where it was sent to......well....
you can't PROVE the address was correct because the

ONLY THING ON THE POST OFFICE RECEIPT IS THE ZIP CODE !!!

Soooo....get the job at the PO.
Steal all the coins you can carry.

Sell them and get rich.

But don't mail them. :#

There should have been a tracking number on the receipt.

The only bad thing about tracking numbers is they only show the route of the package and then the delivery of the package to the destination city. The delivery doesn't show the specific address it was delivered to. I think even with signature verification, it doesn't show the address of where the signature was done. I may be wrong on that.

No, you are NOT wrong. That is the EXACT dilemma the post office has created.
All it takes NOW to steal packages to one's heart's content is to just TAKE EM!
Then....without a postmarked form like senders USED TO HAVE.....

there is NO way to find the street address it was sent to.

    Ah, progress. :#

MAYBE...when I take an inconvenient TRIP to the POST OFFICE....they might have some way to "see" what was printed on the package.

    This sucks.

However, the post office DOES provide a handy dandy THREE PAGE form online to ask for some "help."

    :)

I hope those cameras are close.
The clerk wouldn't use a form that would let ME have any evidence of correct address.

oh, and I hope the camera has a good focus.

Shoot, they MAY find it. Many times my "carrier" has ...realized... that they made a.....mistake and remembers screwing up and taking it back to the post office.

how about you invent a web site that steals everyone's information...even people who don't use the website...that's how you do it!

i never get insurance unless the value is over 1,500. the high postage on package is a dead giveaway

  • topstuftopstuf Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭✭

I considered it as the Priority COMES with a magnificent fifty bucks of INCLUDED insurance.
In this case, I think I may be GLAD I put insurance on it.

    :/

I ...should....have gotten suspicious when this was one of the RARE times when the nosy clerks didn't ask WHAT was in the package like they USUALLY do thus making me have to come up with "merchandise" ....

    ...which pisses them off.

A guy on the OFR had a similar idea.

When they enter the package into their system and get a tracking number, the address is verified before they accept the package. So yeah, I expect that they know where it is delivered.

If it's over a thousand bucks you should use Registered and Insured anyway - and the insurance is cheaper with Registered.

When I sign for a package with signature confirmation, I have to sign my name and put my address on their hand-held tablet. That goes right into their system as an update.

Our post office here has photos of who handled each piece of mail that comes through. 3 different steps are recorded for each package. As I utilize a P.O. Box I cannot vouch for delivery issues. I do not like packages being delivered to my home. More times as not, I am unhappy with a step of UPS or others methods of delivery which is not very safe.

When you create a shipping label online or at the PO, an address is entered and attached to the tracking number. It may not show on your receipt, but it is recorded.

My post office does not have cameras. At least none that I see. I refuse to go to the PO for anything other than sending off mail.
If you are not signed up at USPS.gov then you must do so. Just print what you want, take screen shots if needed and be done with going to the PO for postage.

    Yes, that's exactly right.
If only I could find someone who would take mere money, I'd send all mine to them.

I'd prefer it the way it is now. Youre thinking too much like a businessman and not enough like a hacker/exploiter. There are cameras at each post. So, the package is traceable (by them) to specific people at all times. So, if the package disappears, it will be accredited to an employee.

Hence, I wouldnt want any extra information added- that only helps 3rd parties exploit the system.

There are not cameras at all post offices and in all places. I live in a rural area and there are no cameras at my post office which happens to be in a gas station, bait shop, liquor store. When the postal employee is not around, the gas station employees are the back up

Theft at work is highly unlikely to make you rich. However, you have a fair chance of getting a felony conviction.

I know that's right. Before becoming disabled I took a lot of things for granted. Having one's health is everything!

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
