Sure. Why not? Just don't expect to be happy with the answer.

Why? Should you really concern yourself with what someone who only gives you a "LOL" and a "disagree" thinks?
If you do ask, don't expect to be satisfied with the response.

Sure...it is always fair to ask. I accidently hit disagree when I wanted to hit quote. Caught it quickly before Justacommem got heartburn.

Sorry about stealing your answer. I edited my original post before I read yours. Just goes to prove the old adage; "Great minds think alike." Or something.

I guess, but does everyone need to explain why they disagree with a post?

well isn't that what the forum is about discussion

I don't see any issue with politely asking someone what they might have been thinking in such a case. However, I would likely do it via the PM system instead of within the thread itself and would also be ready for silence from the other party. Regardless, I tend to attempt to enjoy my time on this platform and hope others do, as well.

It is and I agree (and some others do too) that it would be nice for someone to explain why they disagree. However, plenty that do click it are either trolls, have petty conflicts, or just do it to make someone feel bad/angry. Those types of people will never bother explaining their reasoning.

Isn't the "disagree" usually obvious? If you say the toning on a coin is artificial and I hit "disagree", do you think it is because I don't like your haircut?

OK what if you said collecting Dan Carr coins renewed your interest in collecting coins wouldn't you wonder why someone would find that funny

Not really. Dan Carr is somewhat controversial in the community. But, in general, a "disagree" which is what I was talking about is usually just that: I disagree with what you just said. An LOL is a little different than a "disagree" and could be harder to interpret.

For the benefit of those who haven't seen my opinion on this before, I think that the forum software should prevent a "Disagree" from posting without automatically requiring a comment. This IS a discussion forum, so for the purposes of discussion, put on your big boy pants and state your disagreement.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. We all don't share the same views.

I would just like to know why. That in itself would "educate" me to different points of view.

If "Disagree" is "LOL" , does that mean "Agree" is the same as duh as one stated the obvious ? :D

Not at all, especially if the same person "disagreed".
How can you disagree with a statement of fact - that Dan Carr coins renewed your interest in coin collecting?
You can't, unless you are deliberately trying to spread discontent.
And this troll does not believe that collecting Dan Carr coins renewing your interest is "funny".
"LOL" is often used sarcastically, as it is likely being used in this case. He is playing you for a fool.
You could use some thicker skin. And the last thing you need is know what this troll is thinking.
Let it go. To waste more time and thought on this is just the sort of attention this troll is looking for.

Absolutely nothing is wrong with disagreeing with a post. I don't learn anything from people who agree with me.
I don't learn anything from folks leaving a disagree without stating why either.

I consider them and their "disagree" to be completely worthless as their tiny mind and little fingers add nothing to a discussion. :p

You read far too much into this stuff. Some may even be accidental. With my fat fingers/thumb, I find myself clicking on things accidentally with my iPad when scrolling.

+1. It's not like Survivor, and you're voted off of the forums. Insider can attest to this.

I disagree that you disagree with me. >:)o:)

I have to be careful on eBay not to accidently hit buy it now, and my fingers aren't even fat. Accidents happen.

Most of the LOLs I got were comments I made from the heart. It makes me sad.

There are trolls who disagree for no reason at all... I had one tracking me for a while....If I disagree with a post, I will clearly state my reasoning.... though I am not sure if I have ever clicked the disagree button...Usually, I will just respond. I do hit the agree, like or LOL buttons though.. Cheers, RickO
