    Would love to go, but...

I was there last year for 3 days and was ready to go home after 4 hours on the first day.

So no, not going this year.

That’s what happens to me at most shows. I tend to have a grand plan starting at early bird opening and finishing up in one day. I haven’t made it yet to CCE but its precursor (sort of) in Rosemont was annoying for me because I couldn’t really get in on Thursday and I felt that by Friday I was picking over the leftovers. Maybe CCE will be better than CICF was, but I think I won’t go if just for Friday.

Too bad NYINC is only once a year. It’s a local show for me. This year the Summer ANA show in Philadelphia will also be local for me.

How does one get a hater to stop hating?

I don't really know. The first CCE last year sold a lot more tables and I had a really good show. But based on the small number of dealers this year, I have to assume that a lot of dealers didn't do as well.

Her whiz . After only one year ?

Is the market slowing for foreign coins?

Is there a problem with the show promoters ?

CCIF had dealers coming back year after year.
    90-110 tables.

The market for better coins, both foreign and domestic are strong. I don’t particularly care that this show is one week prior to the Central States show.

CICF had stalled out a bit towards the end. The last row (towards the lot viewing tables) was't very full of paying dealers. The later CICFs had lost many major European dealers in international coins, but these were partially offset by recruiting some additional American dealers in Foreign. The scuttlebutt was always that the foreigners didn't care for the sterility of suburban Rosemont and preferred Downtown.

The first Chicago Coin Expo was in a unique location (the old Chicago Public Library). The building was magnificent (and still is in some rooms), but today it is primarily used as Chicago city (park district?) offices and as an indoor public playground for a large throng of lower class Chicago Nannies and their noisy and poorly behaved small charges. The weather in Chicago in 2017 was clear, cold and windy and the building was crowded. It was not the best choice of venue for displaying so many valuable objects. The two rooms on two different floors format wasn't popular either. The Palmer House Hotel should be better.

So, is the CCE no more? I don't see it on the list of shows for 2019.

It has essentially merged with Central States in Schaumburg, IL.
