A new SC$ that should be able to push its way into the Box of 20.

This comes to me via a Heritage sale as indicated by the pictures, HK-866a Confederation vignette in Bronze or Copper. The designs for both sides are reflective of Continental Currency, I sort of fancy the design and have quite a few medals with it in a variety of planchet alloys. There is some dispute as to who actually struck these; Tom DeLorey believes they were struck by Montroville Dickeson sometime between 1862-1876, I tend to believe they were struck by Thomas Elder around 1917.
Dickeson originally had the dies made and struck medals most probably leading up to the Centennial Exhibition of 1876. Elder came into possession of the dies at some point and perhaps some un-used planchets. He struck a variety of medals with the "Confederation" die matched with various others during the WWI timeframe. Such is the result of shoddy or lost record keeping. Having the paper trail would be nice but I am satisfied just being able to possess the medals themselves, if only for a brief time. I can only hope the true source can be found some day, perhaps as the result of some forum member doing research.
If you have any of these, please post. If you some Continental Currency like CC-84, please post pictures of that. Thanks in advance and enjoy.

Very nice SC$....I have looked at these (not that particular one) at shows when I lived in the PNW....Was to focused on other series at the time (CC's etc.) to acquire any. They are now starting to interest me a lot more... Cheers, RickO
