I can remember getting Silver Dollars from the bank back in the early 1960's. There would always be G-VG 1921 Peace Dollars in large lots. They really did not have any value above face. I took they back to the bank.
I love the Peace dollars. I started with date set and now thinking about advancing it to mintmark set.
Mine is MS63 in OGH; will take the picture tomorrow....
I stare at the listings for 21s nearly daily. The 21 Peace dollar is like a mermaid to me. Ensnares me with her chunky cheek and innocent gaze into the yonder. I picked this one up last week. I think im up to 4 21s this year. Something about the dark unusual toning made me grab her.
I have been looking at '21 Peace Dollars for over a year now.... still have not found the one I want... well, that is only partially true.... a couple I liked were totally overpriced...I will find one, just takes time.... and looking is fun... Cheers, RickO

@ACop.... not sure if that is a typo or something I have never heard of.... However, it is unlikely that when I do get a '21 Peace dollar, that there will be any tarnish on it at all....Just not my 'cup of tea'... Cheers, RickO
I really enjoy the design of the Peace, and think it's underrated, probably because they were the last silver dollar to be minted so doesn't have as much mystique as older coins.
I love the size of the portrait on the Ob and the design and size of the eagle on the Rev - reminds me a lot of the $10 Indian in this respect, which may be my favorite coin design of all. Happy hunting.

I know what you mean, Ricko. If you do buy one DON'T dip it.
You'll have to deal with a "cup of tarnish".

Come on, can you really call color tarnish with a straight face?
@ACop.... Yes... it is an accurate term and it represents environmental damage - there is no debate, facts are facts. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig. Cheers, RickO
@ACop Dark and unusual you say? This one might be up your alley. I've posted it before but I think it's nice enough to post again. The surfaces could be nicer but the colors on this one are pretty amazing.

@ricko I think this one's more your style. Plain ol' 63

It's a reaction in the silver element. You want to talk about damage, dipping a coin in acid to strip away metal to simulate the shiny look it once had is damage.

I recently picked up this vam 3 unattributed 21. I've been thinking about starting a Peace $ super set that would likely take me years to complete.
@ACop .... Yes, dipping is also damage to the surface...never debated that point... I merely stated that tarnish is environmental damage - that is an indisputable fact. Cheers, RickO

yes it's yet another coin from jjt many moons ago.
The ‘21 Peace dollar is like the buffalo nickel for me. I actually find them more appealing visually in F - XF grades than uncirculated.

I've been wanting a nice '21 Peace for a while now. I just can't seem to find any that really speak to me. The hunt continues..

They grab my attention too.
I have a raw MS '21 Peace $ that I am never sure what to do with.
It's the only coin I contemplate having "conserved". It may be damaged, I just don't know.

Here's a 1921 reverse.

And here a nicely detailed 1921 in AU.

I have three MS examples, one of which is a VAM 3. This one has a decent strike.
