Bought these years ago at a flea market. They were made to go along with the Columbia S. C. Commems from 1936. The Sesquicentional celebration. Thought they were nice and some of you would like to see them. Sorry if the orientation is wrong, I'm a luddite

What is a luddite??
A Luddite does not handle technology well. Old fashioned, not the dictionary definition, but you should get the idea.

I think Luddites also feared technology and even sabotaged machinery so that their factory jobs would remain in human hands, if you will.
I want to say it was textile workers in New England somewhere that destroyed the machinery. The town was Luddite???

Neat items... I have only seen the actual wooden nickels... and of course, many copies often issued at coin shows. Cheers, RickO
I have a couple more bought by my grandfather in law at the time of the event. They are the same, but a bit more worn. They were in his wallet with some Confederate money that is confirmed genuine. I don't think these are copies.
