Yes, there is a fairly active community over there. Lots of eye candy too; I check in a couple of times a day to see what others have posted.

It is a happening place for sure, up to almost 2000 followers now! I don't sell out there, just display.

Lots of collectors out there worldwide, ignore and make fun of all you wish. Then wonder where is all the new blood.

Is there a central location? How do you even know where to look? How do you sell, via private message?

There are four tabs/options at the bottom of the app.
    1) The home page which is where you see posts from everyone you follow. You just scroll down through them like you were on Facebook or Twitter.
    2) A search/explore option where you can see posts from accounts you don't follow that are related or posting stuff similar to accounts you do follow.
    3) Notifications which show when someone follows you, likes your post, comments on your post, and a few other things.
    4) Your page where it shows everything you have posted, the total number of followers you have, and number of people you follow.

To buy or sell you can comment on their post and they will message you or you can just message them first. You will get a notification that you have a message in the top right corner that you can't miss. If you aren't following them and they send you a message you don't get a notification but when you click on your messages it'll show you have a pending request.

What is Instagram? Is it one of new-fangled typing sites like MyFace or SpaceBook?

I like it to just browse nice coins. Don't buy or sell there although at some point I'll probably sell a thing or two since half the time I post a coin I get messages asking to buy so seems like a decent place to sell stuff.

You definitely learn quick how many collectors are out there, I've made like 10 posts and am not very active and have 600 followers.

I've bought several coins on Instagram. I've seen several post there from members belonging to this forum including Mr. TrueView Phil A. and even PCGS.

    No.

I am sure it works for some people and I am sure I am probably missing out on something, but glad to say "no, I don't".

Sometimes I go on the Interweb and the World Wide Net but that is about it.

For those of you that look at coins on instagram, is there a specific tag you look for or are you just following specific people?

I post inventory and material from my collection to IG (https://www.instagram.com/x_coinnerd_x/), although I don't know that I've ever sold anything there. For some reason, I always seem to get offers to buy stuff from my collection, not inventory. I guess I'm doing it wrong.

Well, you do usually post very nice things, and nice sells...

I read about Instagram in one of the latest editions of the PCGS Market Reports. The article was written by Owen Seymour. I do not use Instagram, although it seems like a great innovative way to bring kids into numismatics. I applaud the author, Owen.

  • I enjoy instagram. I like posting things I've come across that I find interesting, and occasionally I'll post one of my own pieces.

Count me as your newest follower. All I can say is Wow!

I post from time to time. Haven't sold anything there yet.

As for me, I usually try to scroll thru a bunch of postings first, just to see what coin porn lurks. Instagram makes it very easy to post short videos; in fact I posted a toned luster bomb orange Morgan earlier this evening. Using hash tags like #coins, #coincollecting along with other coin nerd terms always helps.

I'll pretty much follow anyone with cool coin pics (or otherwise) or who follows me with the following exceptions:

Your profile and/or page is filled with stupid looking selfies and nothing else.
Private accounts with a scowling selfie profile or no pic at all. In fact I rarely follow a private account, why do you have to hide?
Profiles with a handful or no postings and a large number of followers, those are fake thru and thru.
Accounts filled with ads and product pushing.
