What is going on with the obverse by Jefferson’s eye?

    I can not tell if you have very late die state or a double die. It might be the following, but can not tell from your pics, I would need coin and loupe.

    Does not look like a double die to me. LDS perhaps with some die cracking or cudding.

    Looks like severe die wear.

    oops, they are all proof except this one - I can not see the serifs in pics well enough anyway

    I think most of the mess around the eye and letters is just die breakdown

    Appears to me to be die erosion.... I do not see a DD there... Cheers, RickO

    Overused dies around the time your coin was minted are very common in the Jefferson Series.
