I bought tons on coins from Teletrade. One of the most notable was a Darkside coin. It was the Norweb 1890-H Canadian Half! I remember not stepping up to the plate on a 70-CC Quarter that was graded VF30. That coin is worth more than 5 times now than it sold for then!
I Purchased this 1838 O/C directly from Teletrade auction back in 2005!
*Additional pedigree note: Also pedigrees to Milt Cohen collection of errors circa 1980-81. Lot # 40. Located this info while searching Mike Byers website.
Persuing choice countermarked coinage on 2 reales.
Enjoyed numismatic conversations with Eric P. Newman, Dave Akers, Jules Reiver, David Davis, Russ Logan, John McCloskey, Kirk Gorman, W. David Perkins...
I bought thousands of coins from them, and sold even more through them.
Great buying opportunities there; I never understood the rap they had for selling overgraded junk...many coins they sold were quite nice, and as other members have already shown, were upgrade candidates.
If you stayed on top if what was "hot" and what was not, you could buy stuff cheap and do the old TT to eBay flip.
Those were great days.....lots of money to be made rather easily.
Funny how so many of us got misty eyed and nostalgic over Teletrade (which i did like), but if you go back, back, back in the time machine to let's say 10 years ago, all you would find are posts like "nothing on Teletrash this week" or "it's the same coins over and over". Time has a way of doing that.
I think Great Collections is filling in that void very well though.
I never purchased directly from Teletrade, I did, however, purchase a coin from ebay that had previously been sold on Teletrade.... a chop marked Trade Dollar.... posted here on the forum before...Cheers, RickO
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." I used to buy a lot from Teletrade. A shame we lost them.

I miss Teletrade? Before internet, they mailed a weekly bid guide. Then we did some kind of weird bidding by phone.

I can relate...remorse on both ends. Wish they didn't sell out.
I bought my first toned ASE on TT. This was won just before they closed.

This is probably the only one I've got left. It's the Morgan in my type set.
Fewer than I expected are still in my collection. Here is one from March 2009. A surprisingly hard to find date.

I used to purchase a lot of errors on Teletrade. Here's one ... a partially plated 1984-D Lincoln Cent. Sold it long ago.

At the time this was by far the most I had ever spent on a coin. Come to think of it, this is the only coin I ever won from a Teletrade auction.
Here are a couple I bought off of Teletrade.
Now a 65dmpl

NGC 63 @ $80
Now 62 micro o

This is one of a number of favorite Teletrade purchases, ex Eliasberg collection.

Are there links from TT that can still be found? They kept it running and accessible for a few years after Stacks bought them out.
I bought this one from a dealer but traced it back to Teletrade through the Cert. number.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I loved teletrade and this coin. Which was in a NGC 62 BN holder when purchased. Now PCGS 63BN.
Actually I think the coin has since upgraded to a 64BN!
Good question. I would like to also know?
