Is this a clipped planchet or PMD?
I was looking through a new batch of mint red disks and I found one that appears to have a clipped planchet. I pulled this one directly out of the original mint packaging so I think it is a real clip but I am not seeing any sign of the Blakesley effect on the opposite side. Looking at the edge further tells me it is probably legit but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew and make a false determination. I imaged it with a full non-damaged one for comparison purposes. What are your thoughts?

IMHO, it was made at the "M"int with the help of human teeth and then smuggled out. Illegal to own.
I'd dip it in acetone....mainly because that's usually the advice around here.
I at first thought it may have been an circulated piece with a tooth inclusion however after close inspection with a 20x loupe I see that the factory crust continued past the clipped edge and onto the rim. But upon received your most valued expert opinion and advice I will change my name, move to a different state and refrain from any further sharing so I do not get caught red-handed.
I believe the planchet may have endured a 'mouse bite' prior to 'plating'....I would have it sent in to check DNA which may be below the plating and can be recovered with modern technology...

Let's see, mass production and an error. How about that.
Had to be assisted and smuggled out.
Looks like it's a rare variety!!
Yes.
Thought they got rid of the red ones, wasn't the red dye found to be cancerous? Cool error but I wouldn't eat it. lol
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
PMD - no evidence of the Blakesley Effect

Wasn't so red after the Acetone dip. It must have been artificially toned!
It still has the “M” Mint tradmark to identify its origin! Boy, I needed this posting! Lol! Thanks Batman23.

I thought the M+M(Mint) had improved quality control.

If you submit it as an error, I'll only
certify it as such only if it's Dark Chocolate.
(I don't like milk chocolate, so there!)
Oh, and on this particular type of
'content', the Blakesley Effect only
takes place on the tongue.
Aw Fred. Be a regular guy and give the poor M mint a look.
