1942-D 10C is the PMD? Or a Broken Die?

Hello, I was going through some bulk Mercury dimes and came across this. It look like a broken die, but grabbed my interest because of the date.
Any ideas? Thanks

I'm not seeing anything, but an over used die that is failing.
where's the die break? Took a big hit on the date by another coin...damaged.

Not sure I'm seeing what you are referring to; can you be more specific why you think it is a broken die? To me, a broken die results in very pronounce die breaks, or perhaps even missing portions of the die and as a result missing a portion of the coin design....
I used the wrong terminology, I should have said broken date. Thanks for the info regarding a worn out die, I didn't realized it would look like that. Thank You

if it is what i think it is, the date has some metal "shaved" from contact (pmd) that is still attached.
i've seen a few coins like this and that is what it turned out to be. thought i had a couple discoveries over the years. doh.
