When 8's become 9's. 3 review bumps are back in hand!

Very pleased to receive a full grade bump on all 3 of these. I knew they were very strong 8's when I picked them up over the past few years. Finally got around to sending them in for review. Landed 3 out of 12 that bumped.

I have a couple of other cards that I was certain would bump a 1/2 grade but was proven wrong. I will probably send those in again down the road.

So your saying, that Hank Aaron was an 8? Should have been a 9 from the beginning. Really nice cards...

Perez is the oldest but I believe it is post half grade holder but not 100% sure.

The Perez is still a few years after PSA introduced half grades. My earliest self-subbed cards w/ half grades have certs that begin with 185, but the earliest graded card I have with a half grade, when I include the ones I did not personally sub, has a cert that begins with 159. I've owned that one longer than I've owned the sub w/ 185... so I don't think the 159 was a resub bump but not 100% certain.

If I remember correctly, the first slabs after the half grades had the numeric grade below the actual grade. Prior to, they were on the same line.

    Correct.

It was implemented way before the Perez card was graded.

Awesome cards! Agree you have a terrific eye!

Surprised you got full grade bumps. Normally this takes two submission review to take care of, at least! NJ

    Congrats on the bumps!

Regarding the comments about the half grade labels, there was a very short time after half grades were implemented where the numerical grade was on the same line as the descriptive grade.

Looks like they fit right into 9 holders perfectly. Did you crack them out, or just send them in as 8s to be regarded? Any others rejected.

    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!

I usually tape a $1 bill to every card. Somehow it doesn't work or the $1 doesn't go as far as it used too. :o

I sent in a total of 14 cards for review in there holders with the 12 in one and 2 I had to submit at the higher level due to the value.

I was 3 of 12 and 1 of 2 for a total 4 out of 14 received bumps. 4 of the cards I sent in with the 12 I knew were very long shots to receive a bump. I figured maybe I might get lucky and and get one to bump so I was not surprised at all that those 4 did not bump.

    Sweet Lew!

Mike thanks. What is amazing is that is the second 71 Sweet Lew that I have had bump from an 8 to 9. There are only 20 PSA 9's and 5 PSA 10's for this card. Sweet Lew is very underrated in my opinion. Below are both bumps from 8's to 9's.
