loooooots of new 66 !!
It is going to be very interesting to see where the prices settle on these. Should sure make a lot of type collectors happy with all the high grades! I would not like to be the holder of high grade T1 double eagles.
I'll have one of each.

saw it, can't say I was in love with it. But it was not a dog either
Wow! 13 MS67's, 2 MS66+, 203 MS66's, and 44 MS65+. That 262 coins above the grade of MS65!!!
Some very nice gold there... The conservation process is amazing.... Cheers, RickO
From a historical perspective, it is wonderful that so many of these pieces have become available. They are gorgeous. That said, I wouldn't want to be one of the people that bought one when the pops were really low.

Not just double eagles... new coins graded all over the place... hunt through any gold series ‘55, ‘56, ‘57 dates.
Here’s a 1856-O $5 in 63 (1/0). Too bad about the mark on the cheek, but still.

What, no silver?
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Yep, @keyman64 has it right... I just went to CoinFacts > Half Eagles > (pick a date like 1856-O) > View All Coin Images... they very nicely consider "SS Central America #2 (with Pinch)" to be a variety, so pretty easy to pick out which coins came from this latest Ship of Gold group. The "with Pinch" I'm assuming refers to the holder type with the pinch of gold dust, like the samples they showed at Long Beach.
I'm am curious if they will end up with any gradable silver, or whether all of it will be "Genuine - Shipwreck Effect" or similar. Silver doesn't look nearly as good as gold after hundreds of years at the bottom of the ocean.
Still no Assay or Moffat $20s showing up...

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction on coinfacts. I assume a work in progress with more to be added?
this is not correct I am told:

Those are the current totals, including pre-existing coins, I think.

If they continue to overgrade enough of these I'm holding out hope that eventually I will be able to afford one. lol
I do love the story and would be thrilled to put one in my collection.
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
my info is there is no quantity of new MS67's made-only one so far.
The CoinFacts link from the OP has a number of very highly graded (66+) coins that all lack a desireable color for gold. I think it naive to assume that sea water has any effect on gold, which it probably does not. But consider the coin is 10% copper which is very reactive with sea water. Copper in alloy with gold will have it's own properties, but will definitely not have identical properties wtih pure gold.
I rather do not like the look of the submerged coins. Air toning seems to be much more attractive on gold than is seawater toning. Just my opinion. And makes me wonder if gold coins can be dipped more harshly than silver or bronze coins.
