1883 CC GSA Morgan: Grading opinion and questions about GSA coins, their holders, boxes etc.

Hi all! Long time no see! Hope everyone is doing well. I came into this coin so I am doing some research. I know next to nothing about Morgans...they just aren't my thing as I am more of a type guy. I realize these aren't the best pics, but can I get a grade estimate?

Also, do people prefer these GSA coins in these original holders, or does it much matter? It is in in the original plastic with box and certificate.

What about grading? I guess this in only about a 200 dollar coin but I have seen NGC bands around them before...is it worth it for resale? Thanks in advance! :)

63 imo but TPG would probably give it a 64. Hell I tried the 6 second grade and was almost ready to give it a 65, glad I stepped back and took some time to have a look.

63+. Leave it in the GSA holder and keep with box and cert. At this grade level, just leave as is. Don't invest more to get graded. Nice dollar.

A little less chatter around the face and nose, I'd say 64, but think it's really a nice 63. In the box with the papers is the preferred way to collect these, but you probably knew that.

Even a 64 is hardly worth the grain fees in the current market.

I've been out of it for awhile. What IS the current market? Crappy I guess? Any speculation as to why?

Reverse possibly (6 second scan) but @Rollerman hit it on the obverse, way to much chatter on the nose and around the face. Drops her to a 63 in my very unprofessional opinion.

Looks like a decent 64 as a CC GSA.

I think NGC would give this a 64. However, I don't think it would be worth the grading fees to send it in. Ungraded GSA's with box and cert's sell for around the $180.00 - $195.00 mark. A graded NGC MS-64 would sell for around $225.00 - $250.00. So any gain you get by the NGC certification will be eaten up by the shipping and grading fees.

So keep it as is and don't crack it out of that holder, its much more desirable in the original GSA plastic.

    64, with a remote shot at 65

While the reverse is certainly a 64, maybe even a +, the obverse chatter on the face, neck and field in front of the face will drop it to a 63... These sell best in the original GSA packages. I have several and even keep the original shipping box. Cheers, RickO

THis should never grade ms63. Minimum minimum would be ms64 If the cheek mark is more pronounced. Looks like a luster scrape and one that may not show as much in hand.

MS-64 as the originality and blazing white luster on these coins tends to increase their eye appeal = grade.

    FACT: 1970's MS-63/65
    OPINION: 1990's MS-63
OPINION: 2018 MS-64 Light scattered marks in PFA.

    Keep in the box.
