Not really looking for much these days but if I were, it might be a toner.

I'm working on a toned type set as well. I'd love to see someone else's work, especially more like that monster SLQ!

Still have them all put away.

Even though it's not the most expensive, the SLQ is still my favorite coin. I can't imagine ever selling it.

Any updated pics? I think you need to liquidate them to save up for the Pogue sale image

No new pics. Maybe one day, I'll get them all imaged by one of the pros.

I think a few of the Pogue coins would actually make a nice additions to my set image

Wow, that new pic shows more color on the SLQ! Very Nice!

How about the rest? I remember a killer 1875 dime that graded 67 IIRC

The second picture of the SLQ is radically different from the first picture... definitely the same coin, so lighting must be the key... which is more representative of the coin 'in hand'?? Cheers, RickO

@FadeToBlack .... I agree.... That first picture looks very strange and although I did not see it when first posted years ago, I would have thought it was AT based on the picture. Cheers, RickO

And the second picture is better in that regard? Hmmmm

I actually like the color of the first pic better.

@tradedollarnut .... Yes... although quite possibly still AT... it is not so garish as the first. Cheers, RickO

The coins came from a Wayte-Raymond like album that resulted in the toning. Not even close to AT, unless you consider storing coins in an album for 50 years to be AT (and some might!).

Good thing it was graded then because no way it would happen right now! They are kicking out most everything!

HMMM.....now it's not only "tarnish" but also "garish"?.

    Very good adjectival comments,

I'm going to add that to my ricko description folder.

There are circumstances where I would consider toning caused by an album to be AT. But that’s not relevant....what is relevant is whether the TPGs deem it MA.

This is true. What do you think (or know) was the source of the toning on your avatar, the most eye-appealing Trade Dollar in existence? Coin cabinet?

I too thought the original pic of the 1929 SLQ looked AT. But Todd's pic looks much better and I would guess it is natural toning probably in an album.

When Crazy4Coins first posted about the type set, he had pictures of the coins in the album they were in, all showing the colorful album target toning.

That coin looked blatantly cooked. The type set coins have the same target toning progression of coins stored in Wayte Raymond boards, including some Walking Liberty halves I own in PCGS 66 holders. I thinks the poor white balance on the type set photos made them look more "AT". Of course opinions and mileage may vary, but that's how I see it.

I’m just saying that no one knows how those coins were handled...even with the fact he bought them in an album. A good story is just that...
