On another note, did anyone notice the reverse proof giving a dark skin tone to the obverse? Looks much more natural for an African American lady IMO.

I would be curious to hear you state why you believe this.

to my way of thinking, the design is simple yet elegant, uncluttered and to the point. the Eagle is nicely rendered and Liberty done in a fashion not unlike a lot of US coins. that leaves only one thing.

I got a couple of these. The medal was originally $60 + shipping, $3.95, and for a non dealer the cost of grading would have been $16 modern +$18 for first strike plus shipping and handling.....so over $100 graded medal for $39 is pretty good....
I like the design, I think it moves us forward.

I purchased one at issue from the mint... it was a gift for a family friend. She loves it, as do I..... Yes, many have commented on the size of the stars... even I was surprised. That being said, I still like the design and may well get one at these reduced prices. Cheers, RickO

I agree.

My only "complaint" and it is minor, is that the stars are a bit too large drawing attention from what is really a lovely rendering of Liberty.

I know it is probably anathema to say this, but that is a far more attractive rendering of Liberty than on the St. Gauden's where, elegant body position aside, Liberty herself looks rather haggard and generally has the nose of a boxer - and not a good one.

I'm actually the person who bought the last one in that listing. I spent a long time debating it, but I had an 8% eBay bucks bonus. I looked at it half a dozen times and then when it said "1 left", I finally just bit the bullet. I think they may well be even cheaper next year (Mint medals tend to migrate toward melt), but I do like the design and even if it's a $25 medal next year, I'll get to enjoy it in the meantime for a lousy $10 premium.

I don't think it is a bad design, doesn't fit my collecting interests though. I do agree with the stars being a little too large, and as nice as the reverse is I can't get over all the initials below it, it looks like feces.

Okay, I got my coin today. I guess I didn't read the listing carefully enough. They shipped WITH THE ORIGINAL PACKAGING in a flat rate priority box for $13.65

In other words, the seller sold this coin for $39, paid maybe $3.50 in eBay/PayPal fees and $13.65 in shipping for a net of about $22!!!! And I thought my business model was questionable. LOL

I know these are probably leftovers from the 70s BUT I would have paid $39 without the empty packaging which would have saved about $10 in shipping. Weird

On these, the mark up for 70's are bringing good money. Guess it depends on the % he made.

I have them all and am glad I did. I think the 4 coin metal set was a little high priced. My only complaint on these coins is the 4 coin set is big and more bulky compaired to other coin sets. The mint needs to renegotiate corrugated cost and get the price in line with market acceptability. The booklets are a waste in my opinion too. That must of added 40.00 per set.

Absolutely stands out but you have to consider reverse proof stand out on any set so it’s not unusual it’s a contrast of metal color.

I liked alot of these bullion coins at one point but the spotting problems led me to liquidate most of them.

That's why I don't invest much in moderns. Too risky. Not to mention, when you take a bag full of this stuff to a Dealer a couple of years from now, he'll offer you 3% back of melt.

umm, the 2014 Kennedy gold issue price was 1,240 plus shipping. he is selling them in pr-70 dcam for over 100 less than issue price, plus grading cost. about 50 percent come back pr-69 dcam which run about 1,000 or less
