    Yep, but the whole hobby is pretty rough on newbies. Recognizing obvious post-mint damage is one of the first steps to salvation. Those that read voraciously (here and elsewhere) and ask questions at shows/B&Ms will quickly graduate from newbie to collector.

    I think you are far too optimistic. There have been a few who refuse to accept knowledge that is give to them. :/

    I believe the BF Goodrich attribution applies to this one. Although, there is a hint of Michelin.

    Now, now...we all started out with a low post count and some without any numismatic knowledge whatsoever. We're all just having a bit of fun with a newb the same way it happened to everyone else here.

    What can I tell you, I'm an optimistic person. ;) . That said, I don't disagree with your sentiment -- I have the same problem with my kids.

    No matter how long I've been a coin collector, or how much I know, I'll always consider myself a newbie. There are so many who know so much more than me. And so many of them are on this very forum. I'm a NEWBIE. And grateful.
