I owned that coin from 1992 until I sold it in May, 2017. It was in an old NGC66 holder. It is one of the most beautiful Morgan dollars I have ever seen. It looks better than any image seems to be able to capture. The marks stand out in any photo of it more than they appear in hand. The reds and greens are bright and the textile pattern on the cheek also stands out more in hand. A great example of why some coins need to be viewed in hand. A simply beautiful coin!! I hope the new owner enjoys it as much as I have over the years.

That's just silly IMO...but at an auction where more than one buyer get into it with each other strange things happen.

Personally, both coins appear over graded - just too many scrapes under the tarnish. But, buyers must have liked them.
The 65+ is not even remotely in the same color category at the 66.
But is it worth 19+ times more than the other coin? We all know HA'S fotos are top notch
I love the 66; would pass on the other. Comparing Lobster with Squid.

Looks like mainly tarnish premiums..... more fuel for the profiteers... Cheers, RickO
