How do you designate the variety of Massachusetts Silver
How/where do people go to get the variety [Crosby, Noe, etc.] for a Pine Tree Six Pence?
Thanks

You could probably also use the Whitman Encyclopedia of Colonial and Early American Coins.
Kind regards,

Sure thing @1630Boston
Kind regards,

Wow, the last time I looked, the price of the Noe book was MUCH higher. Either it's come down a huge amount, or the cheapest entries at that Amazon link are a screaming deal.
Yes, the Whitman Encyclopedia of Colonial and Early American Coins is probably the go-to book now, for colonials in general.
For Massachusetts silver specifically, the ANS recently published The Silver Coins of Massachusetts
The ANS has put many of their works online. The Pine Tree work is here. More varieties in Newman's Secret and the 76 ANS works are probably also up, but I'll let you look for them. AFAIK, Salmon is not, but that price I must say is rather tempting. There is a Noe/Salmon cross-table online somewhere, maybe search CNL issues.

I still have Noe numbers on my coins. Since I only collect by type, it does not make much difference.
I agree with with cro , i love stacks ford catelog of mass silver, i refer to that most often. You can find a hard copy on ebay cheap every once in awhile. i like salmons book too.
Great experience advice presented here, I appreciate it very much
