There is a current thread on this forum regarding an episode of Death Valley Days titled "Raid on the San Francisco Mint". I've seen that episode and it is entertaining. But there is a different hard-to-find episode of Death Valley Days that I liked much more (for my own biased reasons).
Death Valley Days, season 11, episode 12 (the 255th episode overall), first broadcast December 1962:
"Private Mint of Clark, Gruber & Co".

I could not find this episode on YouTube, or on any DVD available through Amazon. But it is apparently available for viewing through Starz Entertainment Network. I was finally able to watch it ON DEMAND through Comcast by going to TV Shows -> Death Valley Days -> Episode 255.

I watched the episode last night and found it entertaining.
There is no doubt that some historical accuracy was sacrificed for drama and the 25 minute program length.
Actress Sue Randall, who played Martha Clark, is more recognizable as the teacher on "Leave it to Beaver".

I did not realize all these old programs were still so accessible....Of course, I watch very little television, so do not know what and how much I may have missed. Maybe if I slow down when I hit my 90's I may watch more... will figure out how to see these old programs then.

Yes, they certainly took some liberties in the script to make it more entertaining to the non-collector masses.
Many of the details are fabricated, but the overall account is fairly accurate.

I believe that would be Miss Landers IIRC.
Didn't watch much Death Valley Days - didn't float my boat at my age. But I do recall that the intro had a team similar to the one used in the 20 Mule Team Borax commercial.
