I think the obverse holds them both back at ms62.
62 on the 88s, 63/63+ on the 96

I was shocked that the 1888 S received this grade, it was chewed to bits. The 1896 is much much nicer than the grade on the slab indicates but what can you do with a common coin, send it back,...........not hardly.
I thought "chewed to bits" was the criteria for 62s.
