If I had to grade the obverse and reverse separately, I would say 62 and 64. Overall, I would say 62 or 62+.

PCGS 62. The scrapes on the cheek. behind the nose, and the hair back by star #9 limit the grade somewhat. The reverse is nicer, but not nice enough to pull up the overall grade above 62. Still, easily condition census for the date and a very nice coin!

Edited to not lead with the number 62, prompting auto-format as a numbered list ;)

MS63.... really nice reverse.. but that will not carry it...The luster on the obverse keeps it from being a lower grade. Cheers, RickO

Doesn't it seem like there's quite a bit of rub on the hair, especially the curls, removing it from being considered Unc? While the reverse appears to be gem? Anyway, we know it was subject to handling over the years it was around before being stashed with the later majority dates.

There was a group of three or four very fresh 70-S $20s in the hoard that were all graded 62 (the above coin is one of them). I believe that the sole MS63 in the PCGS pop report is one of these, although I think it may have been dipped.

    Just an opinion:
Fields are largely undisturbed. Somewhat soft detail on obverse portrait and lower part of reverse. Only the bag scrapes and chatter on the face limit the coin to MS-62. Don't know what the central cheek fuzzy spot is.

From the photo, it seems like a nicer MS-62 than usually seen.

Looks AU-55 to me. Has some high point scrapes (not real bad, though)

It most likely was UNC, but did the "shuffle".

Looks like it has a nice skin to it. I'd be happy with any MS62 that looks like that.

For comparison's sake, here is the heavily dipped single-finest MS63 followed by the coin at the top of the thread. Which would you rather own?

I'd love to have either (or any other coin from the Saddle Ridge Hoard) but the dipped one does look better.

OK, the 63 is phenomenal. Were these likely minted at the same time? One seems to have a much better, bolder strike.

I would enjoy either but like #2 much better.
