    I had a fleeting moment of terror when I saw that @FredWeinberg had posted - I thought he was going to tell us that the host coin had some valuable error on it. :o

    I like the carving, but it would be better without the wire brushed reverse.

    You have to understand theses are not coin collectors, they are carvers.

    That would be Franklin on a 1963-D half, and he wasn't in the Bull Moose party either.

    I also assume he wanted the reverse to match the color/patina of the obverse....
    Once it is turned into a work of art I don't think the normal rules of coin handling apply...
