Do you have any circulated proofs in your collection?

It was long a common practice to put unsold proof coins into circulation. Maybe some members have circulated proof Trade dollars or gold in their collections.

Ouch!
Funny they said "returned to circulation", as if they started out there.
I have a few modern proof coins that I have come across in roll searches, and those I will truly "return to circulation" at some point.
I got a 1986 proof quarter in change at McDonald's or a gas station several years ago. I didn't have one previously so it's now part of my collection.
I can do you one better and contribute one for the year of your document that it mentions

Cool find. Back in the 1960's I found a 1959 Nickel in circulation. I do not own any now.
To be honest with you I never thought about it.
I have about 10 proof clad Kennedy halves from roll searching.
Collector, occasional seller
That's awesome.
Found a 70-S Kennedy in a roll of halves from a bank several years ago. Part of my small silver stash for now.
WOW! That's pretty interesting.
Crypto - That could be one of the 94 Trade proofs tossed into circulation....
Some years ago I went to the local bank to get rolls of halves and quarters for silver searching. Among the coins were a bunch of modern proofs, most with only slight handling. The bank was a small community enterprise and did their own coin rolling by hand. I tried to interest them in letting the police know about the proofs and the possible depositor - in case there were any robberies in the area. But nothing happened.
Over the years I have found a few in my change. I have also put some through the coin star machine at the bank now and then.

Sweet !!!
I’ve found many moderns roll searching, especially clad halves.
Nice Trade Dollar @Crypto!
I have released many into circulation....common modern cents through halves that are not worth selling as the time and effort exceeds the value. I just hand them to my wife and she spends. Hopefully it makes someones day when they are found. And perhaps by a YN.

I used to own a Morgan in PR45. Even at that level, there was a surprising amount of flash remaining in the protected areas. With all that circulation, it was still obvious it was a proof.
Just last month I pulled a 1984 S Cent from circulation. I've also got a modern proof dime and quarter from change. Maybe one was from @AUandAG ? Either way they do make my day!
Whatever you are, be a good one. ---- Abraham Lincoln
Just a 64 Jeff. nickel.
Yes, several Franklin halfs.
I have found a couple... cents and a dime....did not keep them though...well, now that I think about it, I may still have the dime...Too much work to look for it right now...
Cheers, RickO
I found a proof Washington Quarter once. I've put some into circulation.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Thanks
I was looking for just such a coin, I have a AU set and wanted a match and not just the typical proof. There is no 78p cir so there was a natural hole in the set (similar to the 58 seated dollar) to go with the 78s and the 78cc

I like this coin a lot also! A very nice coin for a set of EF Trade dollars!

Agreed. The coin is a very nice high-end EF with the added bonus of extra detail from the proof striking. A nice find and, frankly, more desirable to me than one of those "MS-61" proofs that look like a truck ran over it.
Yes. This is my only one. 1869 silver dollar NGC PF55CAM

I found two proof 1990's Washington quarters in circulation. I still have them both.
There is a difference between a circulated proof and a mishandled proof IMHO

Great thread. I absolutely love the trade dollar @Crypto !
