Good reading for a couple of bad days....

I had the flu last week so spent a day and 1/2 in bed. After several hours of watching TV i decided to read something and picked out 'Adventures with Rare Coins' by Bowers. It is something I have had in my limited numismatic book collection for some time but had not really read much of it. I will say that I ended up reading cover to cover and enjoyed it thoroughly. My daughter checked on me a couple of times and I got a 'Dad, you're still reading that book?'. Unfortunately when I told her what is was she did not show any further interest but hey, her loss!
Anyway sometimes even though things get the better of you, you can make the best of them! And increase your coin knowledge at the same time!

Sounds like making productive time out of non-productive time. I hope you're feeling better.

Glad the flu did not knock you down for two weeks like it has a lot of folks.

I often take time out to peruse my numismatic books. Keeps me sharp.
Well.........as sharp as I can be anyway.

It's hard to put down anything that Bowers has written, I especially like reading his old "Rare Coin Reviews" articles and the descriptions in his auction catalogs.
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
Most of my reading time (except on planes) is educational material - coins, firearms, law of self defense etc..
On planes I like fiction and since I usually have long flights I can get through a book or two. Cheers, RickO
QDB is a wonderful author, I recently picked up a used copy of his "American Coin Treasures & Hoards" book, which is also a well written, thoroughly researched and informative book.
Glad you're feeling better.

"Keep in mind that most of what passes as numismatic information is no more than tested opinion at best, and marketing blather at worst. However, I try to choose my words carefully, since I know that you guys are always watching." - Joe O'Connor

This and the OP's book have provided hours of entertainment for me over the years.
Books you can pick, randomly choose a chapter, and dig in!
I now consider you more of an expert than some of the people that post in these forums (including myself).
