You just have to love USPS...

Shipped on January 9. Stuck in LA for 7 days. This has to be a record for the amount of time I've had to wait. Maybe it will be here by the end of the month. LOL.

Wow.... but there has been a bit of that lately. My wife had a package take ten days to go 100 miles... and this was after the holiday season this month. Cheers, RickO

I mailed a check from Virginia to NYC and it spent 17 days....in Denver. Even so, I do love the USPS. Anything important goes registered. Anything time essential goes Priority (or even Express). Anything else, tracked. Tracking isn't perfect either, but overall it's a pretty excellent service without couriers!

those are average rates, most coins don't weigh over 4 ounces and 4 ounces and below is $3. The 3.64 is an average for all first class parcels under 16 ounces.
The last coin I shipped at a USPS was $3 and through Ebay with the label was $2.61.

High prices mean consumers pay more. Gotta love it. One ounce or 5 ounces costs me the same. And if I charge for shipping on ebay, they charge me ten percent on the "asking" price that they're charging me for postage. So in effect, as prices rise this Jan. 21... If it costs $3.12 to ship a one ounce coin, and I ask $3.12 for shipping, Ebay is going to charge me another $.312 on top of my asking price on shipping. Essentially, I will have to charge $3.50 to cover the costs ebay is charging sellers, for not giving FREE SHIPPING. Who is scamming who ? I don't blame any entity. Business is business, but in the end, it is the consumer who pays the most.

I do like the PO but occasionally they do let me down. I sold a coin in late December and mailed it the next day First Class... it took it's sweet time getting there, Not sure why it spent almost 2 weeks in Atlanta! I would not be surprised if I got a neg for this:

I've had stuff get stuck in Christmas shipping, but never anything like this one sitting in LA for a week.

Maybe it wanted to spend some time checking out the stars on the Walk of Fame?

When I see a coin stuck at one location I make a call to the USPS 1-800 number. Then things start moving again.

OK..........serious now. The USPS has been screwed up for a while now. They consolidated a lot of processing centers and closed a lot of Stations to save money.

I think they are trying their best to handle things....but the stuff reported here is what happens regardless.

Yes. They almost immediately locate it and get it moving. Sometimes, it's an address reading problem that has to be manually fixed. Filing either a "locate mail" request or calling customer service almost always gets it moving within 24-48 hours.

LOVE THE POST OFFICE! Try to find a better, cheaper way to ship a coin to the middle of Idaho from New York. I dare you.

On Friday, the 12th, I mailed an item from upstate South Carolina to a dealer in the Jacksonville, FL area via Express Mail with guaranteed delivery by noon on Saturday, the 13th. As of this morning, it's finally "on vehicle for delivery" - we'll see if it arrives. Six days for overnight delivery which cost $23.75 - What a deal!

Actually, that makes your delivery FREE! Guaranteed delivery has a money back guarantee. So, it IS a deal!

On a Tuesday afternoon I shipped a large parcel (snowshoes) from a small Arkansas PO to a small Central NY town. “Low and slow” means it cost $17.50 and was going to arrive the next Wednesday.
    It arrived that Friday morning.

I believe USPS still makes full refund of Express Mail that is not delivered by guarantee date/time. Take your receipt to the USPS counter to receive your full refund (free shipping!).

you can also trigger action with the USPS on-line inquiry, but I find the phone call works faster.

That is correct - I've already been to the P. O. to get the refund. However, that still doesn't cover the anxiety of waiting for the package to arrive. I would much rather pay the fee and just have the darn thing get there on time!

sadly, I can beat that with this sordid story.

1). initial order arrived mailed Nov. 4th, 2017.
2). arrived at PCGS Nov. 14th.
3). shipped to me on Dec. 6th: looking good because I wanted to avoid the Holiday/FUN Show slowdown.
4). ---- order is screwed royally, not in the proper holders and not TrueViewed.
5). Customer Service starts to help Dec. 8th, but the CU rep heads to the Las Vegas Show and I am in limbo.
6). PCGS finally sends me the e-mail I need on Dec. 20th.
7). package mailed on Dec. 22nd and arrives at PCGS on Dec.17th!!!

that's 26 days from me to PCGS.

I do prefer the USPS vs. UPS anyday of the week. There is the unusual delay every once in a while, but...that is the nature of the beast.

I hate the new "On its way to xxx destination" messages that are automatically generated each day when there is no real update. I've had multiple of these for days on end lately. The most recent is my latest order from PCGS (it usually takes one day, at most 2 days to travel the 75 miles from PCGS to my house). Left PCGS last Friday and has been "On its way to Escondido" since. Every day the message is updated at 12:28 PM unless and until a new "real" update occurs.

I've simply had nothing but good service and good luck with USPS all through 2017 and 2018 year-to-date, including a large package sent to Australia in December in something like eight days. Coins sent, coins received, numerous bulky books, Amazon stuff - all good.

Yeah, the first class stamp goes up by a penny on Sunday. That 2% rise doesn't bother me compared to the 2% more that Comcast wants.

I don't care for the system generated on its way to destination updates either as I get an email and believe its a real time scan only to see its just a placeholder with no updated info.
