Blacklist

Anyone see The Blacklist tonight? It opens with a scene where Reddington is traveling down the road looking at the 1943-s copper cent he stole in a previous episode ... and then someone runs into his car and steals it from him. He's now going after the four -- explaining in great detail -- and that the four coins contain a secret code ...

Great show. I recorded it but I guess I don't have to watch it now. ;)

I watched it. Listen close when they are talking about why the 1943 copper Lincoln cent is rare. They say that it was made out of "bronze" instead of copper, a "one-off" type! Ha! (Of course we all know it should have been zinc.) Guess some writer didn't do a very good job of researching the 1943 Lincoln cent!

I certainly didn't give any spoilers. It was great! I think they got more of the material correct than most shows that involve coins ... and it was more entertaining than 4T's Omega thread!!

My wife laughed at me while we watched it and I was annoyed by the unrealistic elements of the coin subplot. Every other part of the show can be completely unbelievable and it doesn't bother me, but when they start getting coin facts wrong, I'm losing my mind.

Here in Detroit the episode was preempted for a local auto show special. :s

I thought this thread was going to be about someone stealing CAC's "did not pass list"

FWIW, Red has had that list for over a year.

My favorite drama on TV. Spader is perfect for that role. Didn't like that they killed off Tom and I thought his spinoff was good.

As I mentioned in the other thread, the worst "fact" for me was that the Denver Mint apparently prints and stores currency in addition to coins. The show had no clue that the Bureau of Engraving and Printing does the currency and the mints only do coins. My wife was like, "tell me what's right and not.... after the show!"

About the Denver Mint ... someone recently told me that through a family connection, they were able to go down deep below the Denver mint and see the gold they had stored there ... and it was all black!

I think Spader must be a coin collector ...

Are they sure that wasn't the coal used to fire the furnace?

Love the show. I'm also not happy that they killed off Tom. But who knows, in shows like this they usually find a way to bring people back from the dead.

Yes, thought is was cool to have a rare coin and the Denver mint involved. It was funny how much the coin was tossed about.

Painted that way for a reason? Maybe to tell if someone tried to scrape a little off.

Actually he said that the gold was not refined and that is why it was black. He's a long time coin dealer so I have no reason to doubt it.

@DMWJR..... Did he mean it was gold ore?? Why would they be storing gold ore I wonder? Cheers, RickO

I have no idea. I didn't have a chance to ask him, but I will email him and ask.
