Ebay Auction Payment deadlines........set by Seller or Ebay?

bestdaybestday Posts: 4,272 ✭✭✭✭

Won a item low ball bid Monday on ebay ..forgot about it .. Got an email Today from ebay , saying I had 2 days to pay up or get an unpaid mark
Never got an email like this before .... Looked at Listing, stated no payment cutoffs.

Has Ebay tightened payment due dates ....or seller wanting his money quickly?

I'm pretty sure the seller can set a time limit for eBay to automatically send a warning and then a non-pay bidder alert after a certain number of days. It would apply to all the sellers sales.

I usually wait four days before I send the buyer a reminder but notice that when I do file a non-bidder alert eBay asks me if I want them to do it automatically for me.

Four days is about good. I do the same. I usually send out an email ask the buyer if he wants to cancel it if not please let me know when he would like to pay. If I don't get an answer I will file a non-pay case to get my ebay fee back.

Seller set the number of days before it goes automatically as non-pay. I usually send buyer an invoice once the bidding is over as reminder. I hope you won something good as a surprise as well.

    I let eBay handle those.

It could be either one. You can set up eBay to send a reminder automatically, or you can do it manually. Mine is set to automatically file an unpaid item claim after 30 days.

Ebay handles mine after 8 days has elapsed.

It's set by the seller. They can set it where ebay will send reminders/give strikes, but it's still decided and set by the seller. I try not to have those set, because I feel the wording can be a little harsh. I give 5 days to pay, and will send a friendly reminder message after 5 days.

I think its courtesy to pay within 2 days.

The first in case you forgot to check or were busy-but it should be paid the next day.

may the fonz be with you...always...

It’s up to the seller which is how it should be. Anything I win I pay right away. I think it’s a courtesy to pay right away or at latest within 24 hours.

I believe it's both automatic (if the seller has never set a parameter), or set times can be set by the seller.

I've sent simple invoices through the eBay system as a polite reminder when a seller hasn't paid after 3 days. I'm not sure how eBay makes it look on their end.

I always pay the day I win....Even back in the day, before paypal, I would mail payment the next morning. No sense in waiting... then it takes longer to get the item. Cheers, RickO

When I see something on ebay, I like I will bid 50-75% of what I think it is worth, to pin bid in myebay for later look ....Surprised bid won ,maybe because a feedback seller ..under 200
They printed up a shipping label an hour after payment, so they should be good
