CAC question...

CommemKingCommemKing Posts: 2,202 ✭✭✭✭✭

What do I have to do to get a coin previously CACed but now has no sticker, re-stickered? I have a coin and checked the cert verification and It says its been CACed, but the coin has since been reholdered. Whats the cost and can a non-member send it in?

$3 re-cac, plus shipping fees, with the same certification number. See if you can piggy - back with an existing member.

If the current Cert # on the holder says it’s CAC’d according to the CAC website, all you have to do is send it in to CAC and ask for it to be restickered for only $3.
A non-member can’t send it in unfortunately but you can send it in via a member dealer or collector.

I have read - here on this forum - of several collectors that when they acquire a coin with a CAC sticker, they remove it. Not sure why.... but then, many collectors buy slabbed coins and crack them out.... I normally keep my coins as I purchase them.. though I have put some in albums and self slabbed a few....and of course the one's I send in for grading/slabbing. I like the little green egg, so would not remove it...Cheers, RickO

They might remove them to introduce the possibility of a gold sticker or of possible upgrade, as a regular sticker indicates likely agreement with slabbed grade ricko.

CAC has just put a modest price increase into effect. PS they pull off the sticker for two reasons first, stickers on a percentage of your slabs make all the rest look inferior. Second, the auction anticipation price is greater “thinking” a slab will CAC, than seeing the bean and realizing it’s topped out and won’t increase in value.

    Dear CAC Collector,

We are writing to inform you that beginning February 1, 2018, a modest price increase will go into effect. Collector members will continue to only pay for coins that sticker. The new tier pricing per coin will be as follows:

    High Value - $29.00 Over $10,000
    Re-Sticker - $3.00 Original Cert Number Only
    Regular Walk-Through - $16.00 – on site Up to $10,000
    High Value Walk-Through - $32.00 – on site Over $10,000

Please note, our “walk-through” service requires an appointment and gives our members the option to physically bring their coins to CAC for grading with same day turnaround.

Please use your current submission forms until depleted. New forms will be available shortly. You may call to request additional forms as needed. In order to expedite the processing of your submissions, please continue to put same tiered coins on separate submission forms. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Save the money and point the next buyer to the cac cert verification page.

Submissions that are at CAC by the 31st will qualify for the current rates. So we have to receive submissions by the 31st for the current rates to be effective.

Anything that is received on or after February 1st 2018 (a Thursday) will be charged according to the new prices.

So postmarked by 01/31/2018 won't work.
