True View Question

NorCalJackNorCalJack Posts: 591 ✭✭✭✭✭

I purchased a coin off the internet and there is a True View of the coin. I entered into my inventory and the True View did show up. When you have a coin True Viewed there are different versions and individual photos of just the obverse and reverse. Is there anyway to get those photos. When I have a coin TV'd I get an email with all of the photos. How do I get them off our host website.

Thanks

Jay

I think when you look up the cert# there is a link that says "download full size" or something similar.

You can follow this link and then change the last 8 digits to your cert number in the url.
After you make the change to the cert#, hit enter and it should display your coin with the options to download the other image sizes.
You could then save the updated url as a bookmark so you can refer to it later.

Go to this link: images.pcgs.com/trueview/84196692. In the link, change the "84196692" to your cert #. This should give you a menu of available downloads with different backgrounds or just obverse or reverse. Your download options will depend on when the TrueView was taken (which affects formatting choices available).

Edited to add: what @10000lakes said. ;) Nice Morgan Dollar!

Yes, in the cert lookup is the True View photo and then when you click on it it enlarges. Then in upper right corner is a down arrow to allow you to download the photo. I did that, but was wondering about the individual photos also.

    Thanks for your input ChrisH821

I never saw this page before. A black background option would be great!

    Thanks!

Agreed. I also like having the coin type and grade rather than just the cert #, so I end up converting to just such a background, like this:

The key at least is that they offer a pure color (white or transparent). After that, you could use any commercial imaging software (Photoshop, Paint, etc.) to do a color substitution from white to the background color of your choice, or place the transparent image over the solid color background of your choice. That's a big pain with the PCGS-logo background.

The link 10000lakes posted is great, but I typically like these links to use when I post pics here. They load on these web pages faster, then saving to your computer then uploading (i.e under the picture icon then browse to where you saved your file). As mentioned earlier, just input your cert#, then change the jpg size for:

    Normal images.pcgs.com/TrueView/32942671_Large.jpg

    Extra Large images.pcgs.com/TrueView/32942671_ExtraLarge.jpg

    Maximum images.pcgs.com/TrueView/32942671_Max.jpg

Once you get your photo loaded on another tab in your browser (I normally use the normal or Extra Large that fits my 27 in screen full) :)
Copy the url and paste in the blank box just under the browse box when you upload pics.

Checking the posted link is great for slabbed coins you may acquire... many have TruViews and I just download them to my file. Cheers, RickO
