NYINC Show - new World TPG, GENI - and a small request
Hello all,
For anyone attending the NYINC show next week, could you please see if the new French grading company, GENI, is there and report back about the company?
They have an interesting slab and were discussed before on the US forum (although it seems they specialize in world coins):
https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/988632/new-holder-completely-rethinking-the-design/p1
Also, they may be handing out sample slabs. As holder collectors @astrorat and I would love to acquire an example but can't make the show. If someone can pick up a slab for each of us for a reasonable price, please send a PM. Thank you!

Please ... please ... oh please ... help feed our slab addiction!
I would also love to acquire an inexpensive "normal" (non-sample) slab from GENI.
Thanks @U1chicago !

Those are pretty cool. I'll keep an eye out for samples and/or inexpensive coins, though perhaps you should define your version of inexpensive
. You got me curious so I sent them an email to see if they are sending representatives.
They are not listed on the show's dealer directory.
One of their reps told me they would be in New York next week. I also saw they weren’t listed in the directory. Maybe they were a late addition?
Thank you!
For a common 5 euro cent sample, I would think around $20 should be inexpensive. For a non-sample, it would depend on the coin, but I would think something under $100 would be preferable for slab collectors.
If someone sees something, please PM me and @astrorat ...if it’s a series that one of us collects, numbers might be different.
Please let me know if anyone discovers anything at the show! Thanks!
Just a quick bump in case anyone sees anything. Thank you!
I will be there Friday and will see if they are there and what they are offering.
I'll be looking too. Hope to see some of them in person, they have an interesting look to them.
To avoid multiples though, perhaps if someone here does nab a couple for sharing we can post here. That way if one remembers to double check the thread there isn't a multiple.
Just a thought, and not one that might be easy to pull off in the middle of a busy show.
eta, I can look Saturday only, that way I can peek in on the thread Friday night and see if I should.
Any reports/findings? Thank you!
I haven't seen any of the holders and did not get a response from the emails. Would love to see on in hand.
I saw this post from them:
Hmm, so they were there! Funny, the aisles were more packed today as I was tripping over suitcases and pull alongs! Tomorrow I'll be less in 'gotta keep searching' mode and more in 'dear God, how much have I spent' mode so perhaps I will be less focused/more able to see them. Wish they'd answered my email. Maybe I better check my junk folder.
I didn't see them there and I didn't see any of their holders in anybody's case. I went down every row at least 3-4 times.
I went twice through and didn't see any. JTC, how in earth did you move so fast????
They really must have not wanted to be seen.
Thank you both for trying!
FYI - They are setting up in Berlin.

Well, now I'm interested in seeing a holder in hand. They look like they have real potential! I'm curious about their grading too.
A few coins in this holder are on eBay right now.

I convinced them to give me a sample at the berlin show. They weren’t giving them out and only had a few. 5c Euro In 65

Can you do some phone shots and post them? I'm curious what the non-pro shots look like (and off to Ebay to check it out--thanks Ajaan!)
The Russian Numismatic Grading Agency was also set up in Berlin. Their holder is also very distinctive.

FWIW, both companies appear to be trying to do things right.

The grading may be accurate for both, but not a big fan of the slabs.

I find those interesting, but the prongs are intrusive in their own way.
Not sure I would agree that the sample 5c piece is a 65.

I had the same thought

If new TPG entrants are inconsistent with prevailing major players then that bodes poorly for the new entrants because the market will always compare them to what they already know.
